If the fugitive did not go to the wilds of Kentucky, where he came from, the police believe he will go from city to city unty he thinks the Interest in the chase after him is lagging. He will then "light," they ay and the chances of getting him will be greater. The "dope'' from Nebraska Is encouraging. A meager description of the prison er sent here justified the local authorities in ordering photographs and ail information concerning the man. The Schuyler police said their prisoner had a scrofulous scar on the left side of his neck in the same place as the one on Coe.

During the. search for the fugitive it is' estimated that at least 100 negroes with such. scars' have been arrested in different places to await communication with the Indiana polls police. NOT FOUND IN BROWN COUNTY. Strange Negro Arretted, but He Waa Not Jesse Coe.

Special to Ths Indiaaapolls Xewa October la. Tes terday morning great excitement, pre vailed here when word came that' a negro waa hiding one and a half miles south east of town In a rocky clff. A party of men went to the place early yesterday morning and found some chicken bones and a pillow made of leaves, indicating that some one had slept there, but the negro was missing. When the men returned to their homes. word came that a negro answering the description of, Jesse Coe was in Brown county and found the negro eating his dinner at a farmohuse.

J. H. Carroll and Clinton Knight brought the negro to town and kept him here until the marshal from Franklin came after him and took him othe Franklin Jail. The negro later proved that he was not Coe. Asked ICf the Militia.

When the Brown county people heard that strange, negro was seen In' the hills they notified Sheriff Baldwin and asked him to send the militia as "we are afraid of Coe." Two negroes. one resembling Jesse Coe. the murderer of Charles J. Russell, the Indianapolis policeman, were arrested near here Saturday aftf riioof. i Farmers coming to town reported fng seen them, and Marshal Dimson, Cor' oner Harris.

Audley Brown and Charles Eddy at once went to the place and took them into custofly. They offered r.o re slsfancev and were placer! The latter bote no resemblance to Coe. but Davis has a scrofulous scar on the left side of his face, a scar on the left eyebrow and a arowth on the left side of the nose.

However, he is one 1 taller than the poiire description of i the Indianapolis muroerer. The negroes said they came here from Lafayette, where they were held up by the police and examined. One thing that aroused the suspicions of the authorities nere was the ract that the negroes did not appear to know where they were going and coujd not account for their, presence near here. In this part the street is now so 'narrow that it is declared to be a menace to the safety of all persons riding in the street, as there is barely room for a wagon or carriage to stand or drive between the street car tracks and the curbs. Strong objection to the board's i action was made by some of the property owners, although the total cost of the whole improvement is estimated to be only 11.70").
