HUNTINGTON, INDIANA. Syringes Evenfno Tberalbe PUBLISHED DAILY EXCEPT SUNDAY. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 1903. GETS APPOINTMENT. Leyman Emerick is Deputy Game Commissioner.

Leyman Emerlck's mail contained a surprise for blm this morning. He received an appointment for which he never applied. It is one of those rare cases where the office seeks the man. Mr. Emerick has been appointed deputy game and fish commissioner for Huntington county, and will ac cept the honors of the office to which he has been appointed.

How the office ever came to him he does not know, but presumes his name was recommended by Huntington parties without consulting him. Leyman is thoroughly posted in requirements of the law, and his Qualifications should make him a good commissioner. WORK IS PROGRESSING. Walls of City Hall Rapidly Rising Archways Completed. J.

Richardson and a force of men are rapidly pushing the construction of the waljs of the new city hall. Mr. Richardson is the expert who has the contract for laying the cut stone work. Window sashes for the second story have already been placed In position The heavy, carved Btone arch way over the east entrance is nearly completed The work has been somewhat hindered on account of the architects, Wing Mahurin, not being able to get the stone shipped into this city as fast as the workmen could place it in posl tion. A temporary flooring has al ready been laid on the second floor.

Bricklayers are also busy laying the brick for the back walls. The contractors feel assured that as the work has progressed so favorably up to date, they will complete the building in the specified time. BACK fROM FLORIDA. J. D.

Campbell Not an Admirer of the Sooth. Dr. Tingling, John D. Campbell and William Campbell returned Thursday evening from their prospecting trip to Florida. The Campbell brothers went partly for pleasure and with a view of noting opportunities for investments.

They were at St. Augustine and many other places of note, some old forts and historic places having proven of much interest. J. D. Campbell is not favorably im pressed with Florida as a place for real estate Investments.

He thinks the danger from frost is too great to make orange culture a safe business. He thinks California far superior. Dr. Yingling went to see an eighty acre tract of land on an island in Charlotte Bay, for which he traded his orange ranch, "sight unseen," some time ago. The land for which he traded is unimproved and in the event that railroads are ever built to that region, the beach along the Island may become a fine resort.

It is remarkable for its rare shells and splendid advantages for resort improvements. i 8. A. R. BANQUET.

At Indianapolis the first premium was awarded to him, and at Springfield, 111., second. The fine young hog reached this city Thursday evening and was much admired by stock fanciers who called at the express office.

Mr. Eads is getting quite a reputation as a breeder of Chester Whites. THE 8ALVE THAT HEAL8 without leaving a scar is De Witt's. The vocal work by Miss Reada Lamley, Mrs. E. H. Kirkland, Mr. Henry Bea dell and Mr.

Carl J. Weber showed much merit. Mr. Weber's rich bar! tone voice was heard to good advan tage in Will L. Thompson's composi tion, "King O'er the Land and set to sacred words, and his second number was also much appreciated.

Prof. Noll's 'cello number was beauti fully rendered, and Mrs. Kirkland's vocal solo showed strength and culti vation of voice. The violin, 'cello and piano trio was captivating and if the occasion had been of a secular nature would have received a hearty encore. Mr.

Beadell's tenor solo was finely rendered, his high voice doing each note full Justice. The violin solo by Mr. Ross was a gem of the evening, and was quite captivating. Miss Lam ley's contralto voice was decidedly pleasing to everyone. The singing of the quartette showed the members to be fully capable to handle high grade music, requiring wide range and perfect control of voices in the close har mony passages.

The concert was for the benefit of St. Mary's church, and no doubt a snug sum was added to the treasury. Rev. Quintan's guests at the concert were Rev. Pratt of Wabash; Rev.

De lahney, of Fort Wayne, and Rev. Quinn, of LaGro. A Fine Concert. A large and appreciative crowd listened to the music rendered by the Schaff band last evening, in their final open air concert of the season. Several new and catchy selections were played.

eodftw v. A CHOICE TIMBER TRACT. Markle Journal: A mile south and eight miles west of town in Lancaster township is one of the few large and choice remaining timber tracts. Timber dealers for a number of years have vainly tried to land a deal, but it remained for Abe May of the Dltz ler, May Co. firm, who closed the contract the latter part of last week whereby they came Into possession of about seventy acres of timber, principally white oak, which will yield over 400,000 feet on a conservative estimate.

The deal was consummated with the McCrum heirs. Several gangs of cutters will begin this week, all the available haulers secured and the work of bringing the product to the mill will be begun at once. It wlU last, in all probability, during the remainder of the autumn and the entire winter. REAL E8TATE TRAN8FER8. Reported from the office of Willis A.

"Vlnol Is the greatest aid to digestion that we have ever known," said Mr. O. E. Bradley, of Bradley Bros. "It contains all of the active, medicinal curative elements that are found in cod liver oil, without any oil or grease.

"These medicinal elements act so favorably upon the stomach that this organ obtains for itself the elements necessary for creating new flesh, muscle tissue, and for making rich, red blood. "When the stomach acts easily and naturally, a desire is created for good. simple food, and a good appetite is the sure result. "With cod liver oil in its old form, the medicinal elements which it contained were unable to do their best work because of the obnoxious oil that enveloped them. "Now in Vlnol we have those same medicinal elements separated from the vile tasting oil, and we have a tonic and rebuilder that is simply marvelous in its action.

"We want every one In Huntington to know more about our Vinol, how it cures and what it cures. Certainly Vinol is the greatest tonic and rebuilder we have ever sold. "Lack of appetite Is not itself a disease, but a symptom of weakness showing itself In the nerves of the stomach, which control the desire for food. We guarantee Vinol will cure this weakness, or give you back your money." Bradley druggists. THE HUNTINGTON MARKET.
