This. was the marking up of Americans in London, and gave a strong tone, and prices were higher all through the list. Gains were confined to fractions, except in Illinois Steel and Great Northern preferred, which rose one or two points, respectively.

Commision house buying, of the Grangers, Vanderbtlts and some of the high priced dividend stocks, gave an im proving tendency to the general market, but the gains were not large, except in the cases named. Realizing in Metropolitan Street Railway and Third Avenue forced them down two and three points, respectively, and the general 11b reacted sympathy.
