The principal at College Park High School was putting away 12 years of memories and preparing for his new assignment in the administrative department of the Fulton County Board of Educatioa Last week's graduating class of 40 students are the last seniors to get a diploma with the College Park High School insignia. Next spring the diplomas will indicate the school is the College Park campus of Tri-Cities High School.

College Park High is one of 34 schools closing as part of Fulton County's consolidation plan. As Barchi detailed plans for the school's final celebration at 10 a.m. Saturday, a teacher briefly interrupted to get his signature on several student achievement certificates. He feigned anger when he discovered his name would be in ink of a different color, but his manner had an undertone of truth. Barchi is accustomed to doing things right and he plans to continue that tradition with the farewell ceremonies.

"I don't want a shabby thing. I want something people can remember," he said. "We know it's ending and we'd like to have one last day and call it 'College Park Ram Day' to say farewell to the Rams," said Barchi, referring to the school mascot Former students, faculty members and staff are expected to fill Badgett Field football stadium across from the school for a massive reunion. Alumni will be seated in what decade they graduated. Presentations and comments will be made by Fulton County school board members, College Park Mayor T.

Owen Smith and Fulton County Commissioner Michael Hightower, an alumnus. After the ceremony, visitors will get a chance to meet with former school personnel. "You'll be surprised at how many people want to see the old teachers, just to see how they look," Barchi said. v. il WEDNESDAYS FRIDAYS ONLY (Must bring ad (or discount) Perms Sculptured Cuts Nails Color Make-Over Facial LORI BOYERStaff Vow 0te0t StaU College Park Principal Norman Barchi holds photograph that will be on display during farewell ceremony.

"Naturally you're saddened when you see the school come to an end. You have an affection for your school You identify with your school and you have fond memories of the faculty and friends you've made," Barchi said. "I'm saddened because of the traditions and this has been our school." In previous years, College Park High School was athletically and academically competitive in many arenas. But times changed. When Barchi started as a teacher among the 900 students in 1968, Atlanta's airport had yet to become the major air transportation hub it is now.

The school library will be open after the ceremony to show off old yearbooks, photographs, trophies, uniforms, school newspapers and other mementos. "I'll have as much memorabilia as I can get together and put on a table," Barchi said. From 4-7 p.m., there will be a dinner of hot dogs, baked beans and potato chips available for $1. Final goodbyes will be said at a sock hop from 7 p.m.-midnight in the gym. Local disc jockey "Daddy will provide the music.

Although the day will be filled with activities, Barchi expects a few clouds to dampen everyone's spirits. I inv AAACDirAklA EVTDA CIDAA t70off" 'with paid 9 week program 1 LIMIT ONE 1.
