He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with six Bronze Stars. After the war he married Katherine Yaros from Trenton, New Jersey.

His professional career began with the Georgia Power Company and ended after 37 years with the City of Covington, responsible for operations of the Water and Sewage Departments. He was active in the Elks Club, American Legion, Masons, VFW and a long time member of the Episcopal Church.
