Wintrote, who has been among the towns in the western and southern part of the States returned on Friday last. Mr. Charles Garret, of Logangsport, has accepted a position in the County Clerk's office, and will remove bis family to this city' Branyan, Watkins Spencer are doing a rushing abstract business. Decker, a young medical student and a fine young man, left last Saturday for Ann Arbor College, where he will attend lectures this winter. Joseph E. Moore attended the yearly meeting of friends at Richmond recently, and jfrom there went to Cincinnati to see the Exposition, which he pronounces the biggest thing of the season. Mr. and Mrs. John Minnich and Mr.

Michael Minnich, who have been visiting relatives and friends at Hamilton. Ohio, and also viewing the sights of Cincinnati's show, returned last Thursday. Dr. G. P.

Chenoweth, of Mt. Etna, was upon our streets yesterday. We tried our level best to overtake him and interview i jhim on the subject of news, but a steam engine could not have kept pace with him. They went to jhammering each other's physiogonomy quite lively, until Jake's breath give out and Scott threw him down, and kept up the pounding. Just then Jake! thought of his old knife, and getting in his pocket by some means, he pulled the knife out and opened it.

Before Scott could avoid it, he had plunged jit into his cheek, cutting a bad gash the full length of his face.
