And somehow Ere has 'managed to make tills house a homey, place one in which yon feel a.

ease where yon can stretch oat and be Charing the fun of being Eve's and Hob's guests were Louise and Arthur Posey of Los Angeles Louise is Eve's cousin and is a former' Quakertowner and And she has one of the most entrancing voices we. have ever heard i sings like an angel Bo the four of us were honored guests plus Mrs. Nina Preston of Charleston, W. Va. (whom we met there last year) at a scrumptious dinner at Barney's swank downtown cafe, hostessed by Kvt and Catherine Smith, our nal from Pittsburgh who Is now a Philly haus frsu of much popularity and who, with her eye speclalist hubby.

Jack, has one of the cutest sniall apartments we've yet seen With all the charm of her former home in Smoketown Eve and Catherine finally Introduced us all to the angelic looking Gene Jones, artist extraordinaire, whose blonde hair and dark eyes and brows are eye widening contrasts that maks you turn and look at him another time. One of the most dramatic and entertaining guys you've ever met, is this Jones fellah At Barney's that night, he played and sang as Eve wtould say "right out of this world." And it seems that he can play as easily standing up as he can sitting down and in some of his numbers, he remind ue of Jimmie Daniels 'With us and adding to the gayety were Dr. and Mrs. Charles Gibson, with Dottie, the vivacious type, doing her specialty a neat little rumba like dance Louise singing Gene playing and Johnny dittoing in between huge steaks, succulent roast beef two inches thick and French fried shrimps fascinating tender of the bar who remembered every bod's name. Minnie Lewis, looking like a dream, was there.

We Meet a Lot of Folks Our one disappointment was in not having time to have our eyes looked into by Jack Smith, Dr. J. Shepard Smith, m'dears who is by way of topping the list of specialists in his field We beard some swell things about him which we can't tell yet. Jack and Catherine have settled beautifully Into the social scene in Quakertown and adore it! In between the two days. The Courier folk dropped by for champagne on the lawn, and spicy canapes and it was swell to say hi to good looking Austin rJorris, tho boss Nikkl (Conchlta Nakatanl to you hinterlenders) whose sleepy Oriental eyes never miss thing Nat Middleton of the swellcgant column Irma Harris, svelte and chasmlng Lillian Woodard, one of the town's best looking gels Jack Sauders, who reminded us of the fun we used to have in Philly.

Then ater, Dr. and Horace Scott (Sara) and their daughter, Marjorie Ann, dropped by and such devoted parents and such a clever youngster! Sophisticated Dorothy Gatling, slim as a willow, came, by with Josephine Owens of Connecticut anbury to be exact who wore a hat that intrigued us because we like frou frou top Mercer Lewis, as perky as ever, came by Virgil and Ted Spaulding and their two handsome sons. Chatted with Hob's brother, Lee Boy, and heard some great news! Hob took us to see his Judge's office his pride and Joy, Chris Perry Lodge building which Is perhaps the biggest and most elaborate Elks building in the country (let's make It the biggest in the world!) The big hall in the building, formerly named Mercantile Hall, has been renamed for Hob and is new Reynolds Hall! Went down to the Pyramid Club and had old home week with Harry and Katie Green (Dr. and Mrs.) both as gay aa ever Charlie Clark and Bunny (his pretty wife) and sister, Kdna Howard and Dettle Xownes (Dr. and Mrs.) Met Jimmie and Estella Pitta, astute business folk and owners of two exclusive restaurants the Johnny Morrises (she looks Hke BUHe Holiday) Dr.

and Mrs. Arthur Thomas she wore one of those new dipped neckline black frocks that had every eye peeled like an onion! Sam Evans, secretary to the State Boxing Commission Clara Hawkins of the widow's peak the George Williamsons, she's the former Wac Doris Cabel. They met overseas and are still honeymooning We saw again scads of folks we used to know, but whose names have gone Into that hedge podge of matter we call memory. www Iff Is Born So ws finally reached Morris Beach the growing resort for cottagers and vacationers, which was the dreamchild of Mrs. Jennie Morris, the tall, smiling woman who.

has surrounded herself with charming people. We visited our Daisy Lampkin in her brand new cottage, the "Pittsburgber," a cottage of exquisite white and austere beauty facing the ocean with a windowed porch with downy soft beds all the comforts of home, plus the saa air and Daisy's inimitable hospitality. Catherine Smith drove down, with us and sharing Daisy's week end fun were Ted and Virgil Spaulding with Virgil still a gorgeous gel with platinum tresses Gladys and Jimmy Duckett (who have helped Daisy settle last minute details in the cottage) And the "Pittsburgher" seems to be the gathering place for all the gay folk of the colony and as always Daisy's amazing charm and hospitality and vivacity comes out ond "draws you in magnificently, until you feel like a cherub floating on a pink cloud with a glass of sparkling burgundy in one hand and a piece of broiled squab in the other! We met Betty and Arthur Jones, whose cottage Is Intriguing (but not more so than their winter home In Lawnslde, which we understand Is a show place) she's a small bundle of energy and dynamite Over at Mrs. Morris' big cottage were Pttte tmrghere, the Homer. Browns' and son, Byrd Mrs.

W. P. Baylese, her daughter and son in law, the Leroy Randalls, and their cute youngsters, Randy and Jane A pair of Interesting sisters were at the Beach with their hubbies, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (Roland Coleman) Hurley and Mr.

and Mrs. John Chapelle, all of Philly "A w'tn the Joneses were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hall ever at Dr. Dorothy Bouldlng Ferebee's cottage, besides her twins.

Thurston and Dorothy (both Sooo attractive), were all the young set from Dee Cee, and "Lucille Springer Moncales, Mar garet Bomar. Marine Burwell and daughter, Sylvia. The debs and hoys gave Byrd Brown a gay time of It Saturday night when Billy (his mater) birth day pa rtied him with a'welner roast on the beach. We met the Rev. Jesse Anderson and his three young sons, who look Ulv Cape Cod Indians with their black hair and deep tana Margaret Hawkins of Philly came down with her two handsome sons and we missed the christening of Arthur Jones' speedboat, "Pope ye Junior" and Jack Smith's'.

"Pnpeye Senior, which is due for next Sunday Morris Beach is' just about sixty miles from 1 Philly it has a fine recreation hall and dining room (for those who don't want to cook) it has a sandy beach, warm actually sea watef to bathe in and above all, pleasant companions. We envy Daisy for her sumnwr iong stay plans a full house every week end with Thurpood Marshall and his wife as last week's guests and scads of Ptttaburghers on their way And y'know what we thought of down there with so many folks coming and going, not only to Daisy's, but to otber cottages why don't the guests bring their own It would surely not be amiss That's a hint for anyone contemplating a visit to a summer cottager After all, nobody has washing machines at the beach, nor mangles! So tha first lap of our vacation Is over and we look back at It with a sigh of regret that it had to end so soon but with pleasure, in that we had a chance to see some of the folk. we adore, and to be with them for a little while. News Across the Country As a last Sing at vacationing.
