Baptist Clrarelt, catder tb leadership of popular Rev. William Holmes Borders, is rapidly growing into an interracial church.

And, Rev. Mr. Borders is not inviting the revolutionary de vtlopment in this Deep South area which is headquarters for several nationally known hate organizations. He is letting his call and work for God take their course. Already two white persons nave been baptized and are regular communicants at Wheat Street and there are also an Indian and a Chinese on the church rolls.

Regularly each Sunday night Wheat Street's audience of communicants numbersjbetween fifty and seventy five whites who go to listen to Rev. Mr. Borders' unique and straightforward Biblical interpretations in the light of contemporary happenings. Over a year ago, June 1, 1947 to be exact. Rev.

Mr. Borders took a fair skinned woman into the church. He paid no particular attention since he had been accustomed to taking light skinned Negroes into Wheat Street in Emt numbers.
