Sixteen Logansport, Indiana, Pharos-Tribune Twenty PoHo Cases Reported in State Are Well Scattered INDIANAPOLIS (UP) - Indiana's 20 cases of polio reported officially Uius far in 1957 have been scattered widely over 14 counties and various age groups. The Indiana State Board of! Health said in a polio bulletin today that the 20 cases is double the number reported by this time last year but even with the five- year median. One death has occurred thus far, in Johnson County, where two cases have been reported. Marion County leads the counties . with four. Clark and Monroe also have two each, and one case has been reported by Bartholomew, Boone, Delaware, F a y e 11 e, Franklin, Henry, Jackson, Jefferson, Martin and Tippecanoe counties. Five of those stricken were 20 years of age or older, and one of| them had been inoculated with Salk. vaccine. A seven-year-old also had received vaccine. The other 18 had not been vaccinated, however. They included six children under 5 years o{ age, four between 6 and 9, and four between 14 and 17. There were nearly twice as many non-paralytic cases as there were cases involving paralysis. This was a turnabout from last year when the early cases were mostly paralytic.
