Trailing 21-20, the Tigers' Gary Rogers booted a 31-yard field goal, to which Morehouse added an 8-pount insurance touchdown when Dennis King plunged over from the one, and the home team of coach Mike Grey acquired their fifth victory of the season. Earlier, Scott Elliott had caught two TD aerials and Earl Woods had tallied another on a 12-yard run to stake Miles to its lead going into the final quarter.

By CHET FULLER Jauiiial-Constitutlen Staff Writer FORT VALLEY, Ga. An estimated crowd of 10,000 fans jammed into tiny, Wildcat Stadium here Saturday afternoon and along with a large regional TV audience saw the Big Blue Machine of Fort Valley State College undefeated after eight games with a 13-7 win over tough Fisk University.

From the outset, both teams appeared to have the TV jitters as neither offensive unit was able to move the ball effectively against the other. There were a total of 19 punts during the contest. Once, however, in the first period Fort Valley managed to unclog itself long enough to put together an 80-yard drive with former Price High, Atlanta star, 5-foot-6, 18 3-pound, junior halfback Samuel "Ironhead" Coverson bulling his way four yards for the TD. For the afternoon, Coverson rambled for 100 yards on 36 carries and scored both Wild-c a touchdowns. The point after attempt failed after Coverson's first TD and Fort Valley led Fisk at the half 6-0.

back Glenn Jackson. Jackson is another Atlanta product and also out of Price High School. Once in the first period when Fisk had the ball and was back to punt on fourth down, the Fisk punter bobbled the snap from center, and tried to run. But Wildcat rushers closed in and he threw to an open teammate down field, who had apparently made the catch for a big gain. But suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere Jackson converged on the receiver and crashed into him just as the ball hit his hands.

Jackson also intercepted two Bulldog passes and recovered a Fisk fumble deep in Fort Valley territory late in the game. That fumble recov-ery killed a Bulldog drive that, had Fisk been able to score at the moment, the outcome of the contest might have been totally different. Fisk came to Wildcat Stadium ready to play. After the Wildcat touchdown in the first period, the Bulldog defense stiffened and didn't allow the Wildcats another score until late in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile the Bulldog offensive unit got on the board in the third period with a beautifully executed, 62-yard pass play from quarterback Richard Coure, 6-1, 190-pound senior from Nashville to sophomore split end Cecil Beard.

At that point Fisk led 7-6 and it looked as if the Wildcats' unbeaten string was going to end at seven. Fisk fumbled the ball away four times and had three passes picked off, while three Fort Valley St. passes were intercepted and the Wildcats fumbled three times. Both defensive units were tough.

All afternoon there was such savage hitting, several times the over-capacity crowd would sigh or moan in unison when a running back was met at the line of scrimmage and smashed by huge defensive linemen. (AP) -Alfred Sonny Collins made up for the sins of his own offensive unit as he sparked a fourth period drive that gave Kentucky a 14-13 Southeastern Conference football victory over Vanderbilt Saturday.

Collins, a fleet-footed freshman from Madisonville, not only scored the touchdown and ran for a 2-point conversion, but accounted for 42 of Kentucky's 33 yards in the drive. The Kentucky attack during the rest of the game was dulled by seven fumbles, two of them recovered by Vanderbilt and one that set up a Commodore touchdown. Vandy, too, had its offensive troubles, but drove 63 yards in six plays during the second quarter for a touchdown to lead 6-3 and wasn't headed until early in the fourth period when Collins came alive. A Kentucky fumble on a turned to the right sideline and sprinted 94 yards for a touchdown. The Memphis State ground attack jelled in the second period, with Darby churning out 97 yards and Dornell Harris contributing 55.

Darby collected the first two Memphis State scores in the second period on rushes of five yards and one yard, making it 21-3. Another Memphis State fumbled punt gave the Bearcats the ball on the MSU 14, and on the next play Kas Oga-nowski flipped a pass to Dick James for the i i a i score.
