TEMPERAMENTAL Nicol Williamson, who was fantastic in both "Robin and Marian" and "The Seven-Per-Cent Solution," will have a cameo role as a film director in "The Goodbye Girt." Richard Drey-fuss plays a struggling actor and Williamson gives him his first role. AMERICAN Cinematogra-pher magazine has a feature about the photographic work invoked in production of "The Deep," which stars Robert Shaw and Jacqueline Bisset.

One picture taken on location shows a sign posted at the entrance to the site. "The Deep Needs Clear Water! Please Help Us," the sign implores. YES, IT'S TRUE that there's going to be a new "Lassie" movie and it will be a musical. Richard and Robert Sherman, whose last project was the lovely score for "The Slipper and the Rose," are doing the music for the new doggie saga.

ALAN FREED, the best-known disc jockey of the 1950s, will have his story told in "American Hot Wax." The film will be made this fall in New York City. ANNY PAPA, who appears opposite Giancarlo Giannlni and Candice Bergen in "The End of the World in Our Usual Bed in a Night Full of Rain," was a contestant in the 1976 Miss Italy contest and "accidentally" lost her dress during the judging. She won, of course. NANCY DOWD, who wrote the extremely colorful script for "Slap Shot," is a real person, not a figment of someone's imagination, as has been widely rumored. Her brother, Ned, played hockey for two years with the Johnstown (Pa.) Jets and that's how she got an introduction to the bawdy milieu.

She insists she had never been inside the Jets' locker room until the movie was filmed there. "THE FARMER," which was filmed in the Atlanta area, opens Friday at the Twelve Oaks, Grand, Lake-wood and Cobb Cinema theaters. The movie stars Gary Conway as a peace-lovin' type who takes revenge on mobsters when they push him too far. The movie is rated and, rumor has it, narrowly avoided an because of the violence. CAN YOU stand it? The apartment occupied by Marsha Mason and John Beck in "Audrey Rose" was created on a Hollywood sound stage, duplicating a real one in New York's Hotel des Artistes.

The duplication cost $750,000 and was furnished with $275,000 in TRIVIA collectors will want to know that Marthe Keller was the only actress tested for "Marathon Man" and "Black Sunday." She got both roles, needless to say. THE OLD Hollywood clan-nishness rears its head again: Hart Bochner, who plays George C. Scott's oldest son in "Islands in the Stream," is the son of Lloyd Bochner, the veteran TV actor. INTERESTING to read that Michael York patronized a "fat farm" in Mexico. He has never been known as one of our plumper movie stars.

It has been gathering dust on the studio shelf for a full year after disappointing test engagements. Release date is May 20. The movie is scheduled to play at several local theaters.

In "Last Hard Men," Charlton Heston is cast as a retired lawman. James Coburn plays a killer sent to prison as a result of Heston's work. He escapes, intent on getting revenge. Enter Barbara Hershey as Heston's adoring daughter. Coburn kidnaps her.

There's a big shootout, of course. The movie is notable for a witty performance by Michael Parks, playing a sheriff who has to keep reminding Heston, his predecessor, to observe the law. ROYALTY everywhere: Princess Anne and her husband, Capt. Mark Phillips, have promised to attend the premiere of "The Spy Who Loved Me," the new James Bond thriller, on July 7 in London. Earl Mountbatten of Burma and the Duchess of Kent are two of the bigwigs scheduled to attend the premiere of "A Bridge Too Far" in London on June 23.

"ALIEN Encounter" Is not to be confused with "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," the new epic from "Jaws" director Steven Spielberg. "Alien" will be released this June. This stars Robert Vaughn, Christopher Lee and the ever-popular Tiiu Leek. SPEAKING OF Robert Vaughn, he is the voice of Proteus IV, the computer which does the most awful things to Julie Christie in "Demon Seed." BETTE DAVIS has gotten another job at last. The great lady will play kidnaper Letha Wedge in "Return From Witch Mountain." This is the sequel to "Escape to Witch Mountain," one of the best Disney fantasties in years.

"Return" is Bette's first movie for Disney. Such things am important to stars weaned on the studio system. DECISIONS, decisious.
