It has been gathering dust on the studio shelf for a full year after disappointing test engagements. Release date is May 20. The movie is scheduled to play at several local theaters.

In "Last Hard Men," Charlton Heston is cast as a retired lawman. James Coburn plays a killer sent to prison as a result of Heston's work. He escapes, intent on getting revenge. Enter Barbara Hershey as Heston's adoring daughter. Coburn kidnaps her.

There's a big shootout, of course. The movie is notable for a witty performance by Michael Parks, playing a sheriff who has to keep reminding Heston, his predecessor, to observe the law. ROYALTY everywhere: Princess Anne and her husband, Capt. Mark Phillips, have promised to attend the premiere of "The Spy Who Loved Me," the new James Bond thriller, on July 7 in London.
