6-1? THE ATLANTA CONSTnTTION, Jan. 8, 1976 DA Retiring Before Trial Of 2 Women in Slaying SWARM IN CHURCH Bee Attitudes Not So Blessed Constitution Slate News Service JEFFERSONVILLE A swarm of bees that nested high in a cornice of Shiloh Baptist Church apparently didn't know the effect cold weather was supposed to have on them. The bees moved in during the warm summer months and buzzed over apprehensive church members during morning and evening services. Church members decided to wait until cold weather immobilized the bees before making their move to evict them. When the thermometer dipped to freezing last week, Joe Curry and Billy Wimberly decided the time was ripe to make their move.

Instead of submitting passively to being ousted as they were supposed to do the bees staged a determined and painful attack. After being stung repeatedly about the face and hands, Curry and Wimberly gave up their plans to dispossess the bees. The bees apparently immune to cold still held onto their adopted home. Library At Loew's Site Seen By JIM GRAY A City Hall-inspired drive to save the Carnegie Way library building gained momentum Wednesday as the chairman" of the library board's building and grounds committee endorsed construction on the nearby Loew's Grand Theater site. "To me it's just a better site," State Rep.

G.D. Adams said of the 150 block of Peachtree St. NE that has been tentatively offered for about million. Voters approved issuance of $18.9 million in bonds for a new library Dec. 9.

Adams said most voters believed the Carnegie Way building would" be demolished but that the voters' mandate would not be violated if money can be eligible." According to police reports, Home, 35, was last seen in the company of two women at a Montgomery County restaurant.

Miss Woods, 31, and Miss Todd, 23, were arrested the same day the body was found. Superior Court Judge James B. O'Connor ruled in favor of a pretrial defense motion last September and threw out the original indictments on ground the grand jury contained too few women, blacks and young people. The women have been reindicted by a new grand jury. He said he is retiring in mid-term "because, I became I asp saved by building in the same downtown area.

Adams said several groups, including the State Bar of Georgia, have expressed interest in moving into the present library building or in building on the lot. The Loew's site could be bought quickly, Davis said, and the Carnegie lot could be sold within 30 months. Davis conceded it would be a gamble for the city to presume the Carnegie block could bring in the $4 million required for purchase of the other site from Wiggins and Associates. But two years ago the Carnegie land was appraised at $5.7 million, Davis said.

Davis and Adams also said a private donor may be sought to buy the 76-year-old Carnegie building for preservation. assorted body knits A frosty Choose from single knits, warp knits and light weight double knits in prints and solid colors. 48 to 60 Ji YD, yam in frosted-look colors Woolco Price widths in to 3 yd. pieces, btock-up. Maree, who turned state's evidence against the Machettis, testified at their separate trials in January and February, 1974, the couple offered him $1,000 to help kill the Akins and also threatened his family if he did not cooperate. Police said Machetti and Maree apparently lured the Akins to a remote subdivision Aug. 31, 1974 on the pretext they wanted Akins to install a television antenna on a home. Machetti and Maree then shot Akins twice and Mrs. Akins once with a shotgun, police said.

Mrs. Machetti was in Florida when the incident occurred. The Akins' bodies were discovered later that night by a private pilot who was flying low over the area. Maree, who was tried later, was sentenced to life in prison. site after hearing a report from the project architect ft vc 2 97 yd.

He later said the scenes "certainly would appear to be in accord with those described in high court decisions as clearly obscene." Hall was allowed to remain free on his own recognizance without posting bond. Hubble said the violation is a misdemeanor, carrying a maximum sentence of a year andor $1,000 fine upon conviction. At the time of his arrest, Hall told detectives that films shown in the Macon theater are selected by officials of Weis Theaters in Savannah, and that local personnel have no voice in the selection.

He also said that similar films have been shown at the theater as "late movies" on Friday and Saturday nights for about two years. The Bibb is one of four local theaters operated by the Weis firm.
