STATION CLOSED FOR SUMMER Mountain Channel 8 Moving to Stone The University of Georgia's educational television station WGTV signs off the air Sunday night for the summer as work begins to move Channel 8's transmitter tower from Jacks Creek Mountain near Monroe to the top of Stone Mountain. The purpose of the move is related closely to the long-range growth potential of the metropolitan Atlanta area, already one of the largest in the world. The area is now being served only by WETV which is owned and operated by the Atlanta area schools. The studios of WGTV will remain at the University of Georgia's Center for Continuing Education. During the remainder of May, June, July, and August, WGTV will continue to program in the evening hours for the other educational stations throughout the state. The stations are WABW-TV, Pelham; WACS-TV, Dawson; WCES-TV, Wrens; WCLP-TV, Chatsworth; WDCO-TV, Cochran; WJSP-TV, Warm Springs; WVAN-TV, and WXGA-TV, Waycross, all owned and oper- WGTV-Ch. 8 A 'svw CHANNEL 8 MOVES ANTENNA TO STONE MOUNTAIN THIS SUMMER Education Outlet in Athens Bids for Greater Atlanta Audience Strictly For the Girls ted by the Georgia State Department of Education.
