A Story that Pictures and Words Can't Tell of the Avondale Homes Beautiful OOD taste and beauty, combined with every living-comfort and convenience, is the keynote of the Homes Beautiful in Avondale Estates. Perfectly appointed homes in an ideal setting of spacious lawns, protected by shade trees and graced by flowering shrubs, cannot' be fittingly described through words and pictures. A visit is necessary to appreciate the true beauty and liv-ableness of these exquisite homes. A glance at the interiors on this page, caught, by the photographer during the opening week, will give you but a slight idea of the spaciousness and built-in beauty of these model houses. Before the ground was even cleared, before the first pick turned the sod, the master hand of one of the country's foremost architects and the skillful work of an expert builder had provided an artistic background for the decorators' finishing touches. An entrance, approached through a walkway of flowers and shrubs, beckons you into the cordial atmosphere of the living room. Here, indeed, you say to yourself, is a real home. Here you picture the kiddies gathered around the massive fireplace, hubby sunk deep into one of the comfortable overstuffed chairs, engrossed in the evening paper, with his pipe, at perfect peace, relaxed and ready for the battle of the business world next morning. Here, indeed, again you find, is peace and contentment for the whole family in such an environment. In this spacious living room, many windows with their colorful hangings, stand out in pleasing contrast with the soft, neutrally papered walls, allowing an abundance of cheerful sunshine and air. Cunning built-in bookcases, a deep-cushioned, chintz-covered couch, a pick-up chair here "and there, a brave Spanish galley on the mantel, a fire screen of radiant color. a quaint old secretary, a plaque and print or two, mark interesting spots in the mellow glow of the many artistic lamps and softly shaded fixtures in this charming room. The ideal arrangement of rooms has been obtained only after careful planning, in which every cubic foot of space has been utilized for convenience and comfort. In the big dining room, exquisite fixtures and the beautiful built-in window seats and trimming of birchwood form an. ideal setting for the early American walnut furniture. A cozy, bright breakfast room, with gayly painted table and chairs, sounds a cheery call to the first meal of the day. The kitchen is a model of efficiency and cleanlirss. A white porcelain sink, flanked on eiiher side by tile drain boards extending entirely across one side of the kitchen, forms a base for the large cabinets rising to the ceiling. Beneath the sink and drain boards, convenient pot cupboards are built in. An ideally arranged ironing board, which cleverly folds into the wall when not in use, and a big pantry complete this model kitchen, where housework is reduced to a minimum. -fov-OH l ift 1 ..;; III tflBgftr rrche- I A view of ihe hall, showing the ideal arrangement of the staircase. -ewe i ffwn 1 - njtl-7;HJ 1 Am A'o 'ir careful attention piven to the wood trim and window seat in this bright and beautifully finished dining room. Avondale Estates is just twenty minutes from Five Points by motor, or thirty by express trolley on the Stone . Mountain line. S3 : ? The adjoining bath, .white tile floors and walls, with mirrored enamel medicine cabinet, flooded by an even light from fixtures on each side enormous linen cabinets with drawers for towels and shelves for household linens leave nothing more to be desired in bathroom arrangement. Finally, the sleeping porch, with its three exposures, glassed by double windows, reminds one again of the thoughtful consideration given to health and comfort. All this in a perfect setting broad, winding boulevards and sidewalks, lined with countless trees, shrubs and flowers. Unit One, now practically complete, presents a marvelous picture of the Avondale that-is-to-be (the future home of 15,000 people). Until you have seen for yourself these lovely Homes Beautiful (which will be open for inspection until May 10th) you cannot realize their intrinsic beauty and superiority. You are cordially invited to come out between 1 and 10 p. m. any day to inspect them. A spotless kitchen, with its spacious sink, convenient cabi-inefsand cheery breakfast room beyond.
