Nab Teenager For Passing Bad Checks Two 14-year-old boys were turned over to the juvenile officer Monday night after one was picked up attempting to cash a forged check and the other was implicated. Sgt. Vic Hedde took the first boy to the police station after he noticed the manager of the Bargain Center, 322 South Third street, apparently having' trouble with the youth and investigated. The boy, under questioning, implicated the second 14-year-old, who admitted to police that he ' had obtained some blank and personalized checks from a car parked downtown- in August, and had already passed four forged checks. The checks were part on the Wabash Valley bank at Peru and the others on a Culver bank. The second youth apprehended told officers that he had cashed two checks at the Bargain Center, for $7 and $10, and two at a Broadway store, for $10 and $10.75. His companion was taking his "turn" in trying to cash a $6.75 check at the Center when he was picked up by Sgt.' Hedde. Automobile Stolen From Rural Home A 1950 model car owned by the late B. L. Horn was stolen sometime after 5:30 p.m. Monday from its parking place beside the Horn home north of Metea on state road 25, according to the report of his son,-in<-Iaw, LeRoy. Swartzel, route 1, Twelve Mile, Tuesday morning to Sheriff 0. R. Carson. Swartzel said the car is a four- door sedan, brownish gold, with .the paint scratched on the right side and one tail light out. It has snow tires on the rear. The license is SS 8111.
