m. Rest assured there was no birthday party with neighborhood children in. No indeed. Lois agreed with Nancy that three years was altogether too young to thave birthday parties. The day has no significance to so young a child.

A party just means upset digestion, overworked temper and overfatigue for mother and child. Roger had purchased a small and inexpensive doll's house for Ann. They felt that she was too young to have an expensive one. Let her learn the care of tiny furniture from this one. Later she could graduate into a bigger and better one.

There was a new dress for her, some plain socks, a pair of one strap shoes. And Joan and Peter came over for her noon day dinner. There was creamed chicken, mashed potatoes, crunchy celery, lettuce sandwiches. And then nlam vanilla ice charge. Holiness meeting, 11 a.

(College Park.) preaching by pastor, Bev. Walter M. Black- 'Want Not Always a curse," li a. m. that the spade Knave was the only card of that suit held by East higher than the 6 and that if West led another spade, the Declarer could make 3 tricks in the suit.

With this information to guide him. South decided to play for a 3-2 break in hearts, hoping that West held the heart Ace and would continue the suit he had opened. South, therefore, led the heart King, then the Queen, and followed with the 9, West winning the third round of the suit. At this point he returned the spade 2, which South won with the Ten. The Dummy was now entered by leading the heart 4 up to the 8.

The diamond Queen was finessed, and when this won, the Ace was laid down. The Dummy was again entered by leading the last spade to the King, and West was thrown in with Dummy's last spade. This forced West to lead clubs up to South's King-Knave. The line of defense adopted permitted South to score game. West was fond of post-mortems and said that he thought he should have defeated the contract.

To this the Declarer replied "So you conld if you had looked at Dummy, applied the Rule of Eleven and used an exit-card instead of the second spade lead. After partner played the spade Knave, the Rule of Eleven and the -rules of good play both told you that I must hold- the Ten. Why continue the spades and make me a present of 3 spade tricks? You should have twitched to another suit. A good line of defense would have been to taker tho second heart trick and then exit with the losing heart. Thus played, all I could have taken would have been two spades, three hearts, two 'diamonds and one club.

Against good defense I should not have made my contract, but in Bridge it is just as much a part 'of the game to take a chance that your adversaries may err as it is to take a chance of making finesses, especially when you know that they are liable to err." To all of this I say "Amen." The play of the hand below afford Auxiliary No. 2. Holy Bev. Woolsey B. Conch, rector.

Barring the sex element in these problems, I wonder if the key to the solution of every one of them is not the inability of each offending party to get the other's point of view.

We cannot live happily nor amicably with any one whose point of view we cannot sc be it husband, wife, father, mother, brother, sister, friend, or lover. We must learn to put ourselves in the other's place, even though it is a disagreeable one, before we can understand why that one behaves as he does. For only after we have done this ran we measure his struggles and sympathize with his shortcomings. Only after we have done this can we give him credit for his good points when they are overbalanced by his bad points. Sympathy is a God-like virtue.
