P.M. 8. 10 A.M. to the members of the early church; these are named in I Corinthians Paul wrote: "But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I unto you a more excellent way' (I Corinthians Again, "But when that which is perfect is come, than that which is in part shall be done away" (1 Corinthians Thus the duration of this measure of the Holy Spirit, which included the "speaking in "healing the lasted only approximately 70 years, or until the New Testament was written, which is the perfect law of liberty. Tht Indwelling Gift Measure: The apostles speaking under the guidance of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost (Acts 2), said Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as manv as the Lord our God shall call" (Acts 2:38, 39).

"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dweileth in you'1 (I Corinthians All Christians received this measure, which is not a "second blessing," nor is it given only to some Christians and withheld from others. Nor is it something that one seeks for after he becomes a Christian. and so is also the Holy Spirit, whom God hath given to them that obey Him" (Acta The duration of this indwelling gift measure of the Holy Spirit is from 33 AJ3. to the end of time. CONCLUSION! How We Receive the Holy Spirit TodsyT By receiving the word of Christ, John 6:63: and by obeying the commandmenta of Christ (Acts Acts Men today do not receive the baptismal measure of the Holy Spirit; nor do they receive the miraculous measure.

Men can and do receive the indwelling measure by following the same Elan given by Christ, delivered by the Holy pint, and spoken by the Apostles on the day of Pentecost "Repent and be baptised every one of you in the came of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts The Holy Spirit definitely hat a function in man's redemption. He exercises tremendous Influence over man in leading him to salvation. No one should in any way minimize the Importance of the work of the Holy Spirit However, the Scriptures clearly reveal that all men in all ages did pot receive the Holy Spirit in the same measure, or for the same purpose. An understanding of this fact would eliminate much of the confusion on this subject The Scriptures teach that there are four different measures of the Holy Spirit: The Full Measure: This measure was possessed only bv Jesus. "For he whom God hath sent apeaketh the words of God: for God eiveth not the Spirit by measure unto him" (John God gave the Holy Spirit in Hia fullness without measure to Christ as the Messiah.

Christ's earthly life was under the complete control and influence of the Holy Spirit The Baptismal Measure: Only two occasions are recorded in the Scriptures where this measure was given. Jesus made this promise to the apostles, "Ye shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not manv days hence" (Acta This promise was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost (Acts The purpose of this measure of the Spirit upon the apostles, as explained by Jesus, was to cause them to remember what He had taught. (John Again, he will guide vou into all truth" (John The onlv other occasion on record where the Holy Spirit was given In a baptismal measure is in chapters 10 and 11 of Acts. The purpose of His coming upon the household of Cornelius, who were Gentiles, was to convince the Jewa "God also to the Gentiles granted repentance onto life." (Acta 11-18). The Miraculous Gift Measure: This was a measure of the Holv Spirit received by the disciples during the period between the establishment of the church, 33 A.D., and the close of the first century, when the Scriptures were completed.

This measure of the Spirit could be imparted only by prayer and the laying on of the apostles' hands. (Acts 19 61 There were Bine miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit given Dr. Charles D. Beaschler and the wonderful choir, Mrs. Sue Goddard at the organ and Mr.

Jack Butler at the piano will lift your heart with music. You are cordially invited to join with A THOUSAND other friendly people in these happy services.
