Since the day when the American press first became aware that a new star was in the ascendancy on the royal horizon, many stories have recounted the first meeting of Wallis Simpson and the man who has just told the whole world he loves her. It is true that Mrs. Simpson, then the wife of Lieutenant Earl Winfield Spencer "met'' the Prince of Wales at San Piego when he was in America in 1020. (Thursday) (UP) President Miguel Gomez was voted out of office late last night by the Cuban senate, 22 to 12, which found him guilty on impeachment charges brought by the house of representatives. Vice President Federico Laredo Bru succeeds Gomez as chief executive of the island republic. Gomez had been in office since May 20, 1936, the first constitutional president since Gerardo Machado was overthrown by revolt in 1933. The chamber representatives voted impeachment of Gomez early Tuesday morning a few hours after he had sealed his fate by vetoing-the 9-cent sugar tax bill, which was backed by Colonel Fulgencio Ba the line.
