ThePaircrsfortliePcople TKKKS west can unload his product and escape loss. The offil has declined and does not pay the expenses of the porkhouse. Money is cheap, packers are borrowing and carrying their product a fall of Ijl a pound would bring severe lobs, probably $3 a hog. The prospect is fearfully small, while trie nsE is great. This statement or me uemocrat is an interesting one, but is not encouraging as to the stability of resent prices.

The Chicago Tribune, of ectmber Sth, says: "Packers have become somewhat demoralized, and this because they have doubts about the of packing at present prices." The same paper also says there is no money in operating at present prices. Liverpool has had a decline during the week of nearly 9 per cent, in lard, and lard and meats were falling off, many buyors holding off for a de cline. "The situation is rendered per plexing by the fact that a good many of the hogs on sale are not fit even to make meats, and the wonder is what they were sent'ia for. Very few operators think that they were sent forward be cause there are not many fat hogs left. Tbe packers do not want them, and are preferred.
