Sartain Lanier Sport Clothes for Flights '1 Women Pilots Are In Demand HAWORTH Wife Wants Voice in Pay Roll DEAR MARY HAWORTH: We came here from our home town so my husband could take the job he wanted. We've been married two years, have two babies and I am miserable and lonely. We live in the country and I can't drive no place to go if I did and Stan says we can't afford a baby-sitter. We are always quarreling about money. Relatives donated our furniture and our children are clothed mostly by Stan's mother as she often reminds me.

Stan handles all the money find if I want to buy a toothbrush or bake a birthday cake I first have to ask him. If I try to take up complaints with him, he says I listen to too many soap operas. He isn't above striking me in an argument. Stan Is very independent; but he always seeks his parents' advice in matters of importance and seldom heeds mine. He thinks I am just too dumb to have a valuable opinion.

I guess. The most confusing part is that I love Stan and he loves jne. I've told him that maybe we'd better part if we can't get along well together and he says he's ready to take me home whenever I want to go. I feel he doesn't need me, and I've always needed him; and the children need him, so what can I do? What do you make of such a relationship? I want to succeed, as I believe in marriage, not divorce. B.

DEAR B. You claim that-reciprocal love exists between Stan and yourself, but the notion seems contradicted by your account, of unending conflict. More likely the relationship is perpetuated by some physical desire on his part and total dependency on yours. And in any case, I think you'd do better to face the facts fully, whatever they are, and be honest about them, rather than cling to the sedative of a fixed idea about mutual sentiments. In the family set-up described, Stan and his mother stand together in a hostile sort of co-parental alliance as re-" jrards you, treating: you some- what as a child who is "to be Keen and not heard." You are a victim of their authoritarian manipulation; and they keep you in a chronic state of low elf-esteem.

The crux of your problem has to do with your own disposition to lean on authority, while also resenting your underdog status in being so dependent. To live as a psychologically "upstanding person in marriage is to run the risk of experiencing real aloneness, i. deep awareness of being truly apart from, and not part of, another human. You are in flight from self-reliance; and in order to solve your various problems, you must understand this. As you become really interested in revising your own behavior, you will modify the reactions of others, not by words so much as by your increasing self-confidence.

M. H. Exciting new products for the home in wide variety were put on display when the big International Home Furnishings Market opened this week in Chicago. A preview of new products revealed that some shortages al very much in demand. It's a crucial time, he says, and also points out that registration booths, for both men and women, will soon be ready for signing up of volunteer flying under the CAP banner.

This is part of the defense set up and there is a girls' unit already at the Dobbins Air Force Base. (The number is CY. 6011, Ext. 536.) Another thing which should make the distaff side sit up and take notice is that Georgia has the lowest flying rate among women pilots of any state in the Union. And those neighboring states, North Carolina and Florida, along with California, are rated as the top three in the nation in number of licensed women pilots.

Wrapped in moisture-vaporproof material, they can be stored in the freezer compartment for about two weeks.

WOMAN FLYER IS Mrs. James Cleveland Mrs. Robert Pegram, Mrs. James Cleveland, Mrs. Mar oris Gould and Miss Betty Sloan.

There are many women who have passed their tests to become pilots, but for some reason, have let their flying licenses expire. They may re-activate their licenses by a medical checkup through the CAA. It is of considerable importance, due to world conditions that women should grasp the meaning of flying in the ever changing pattern of the world today. As another proof either of lack of interest, time, or an attitude of let-the-men-do-it, is illustrated by Evelyn Greenblatt who tells of the 99 Club. This club, she points out, was formed by the late Amelia Ear-hart, of women pilots in the United States.

Each local unit of the club requires five members in order to be considered active. The Atlanta unit has not been active since 1943. But even with this small group of women, there is still hope of some heroine of the sky flying people to safety. The answer is the Civilian Air Patrol. Thomas H.

This is on the authority of CAA. Seems incredible that in a career where men and women had an equal chance in pioneering days, and one which offers bright futures in war and postwar eras, that the women have failed to take their share of the jobs as pilots. The rriany small apartments being built today have been given consideration in- the new furniture by the designing of such pieces as chests half the length of the standard size and sectional seating pieces much smaller than usual.

Finishes on the new furniture have light and warmth, ranging from warmer light tones to highlighted cordovan. Woods include more pine in early American and colonial styles. Materials in short supply include metals, still available where small quantities are used, wool, and down, which is frozen and being replaced by a wider use of foam rubber cushioning. Black with white is very high fashion achieved in upholstery or the combination of upholstery with finishes. Tables designed by Paul McCobb and executed in striking black and white have milk glass tops, black wrought iron legs and supporting stretchers of mahogany.

UPHOLSTERY, CARPETS In upholstery fabrics muted carrot, blues in the aqua range, mauve, earth tones, charcoals and black with white are advanced high fashion. Tweeds of all kinds, often shot with metallic threads, and more prints are being used. Designs based on patterns from nature, particularly variations of leaf patterns, are widespread. Cotton and blends of man-made fibers are the biggest news in carpets because of the scarcity and high price of raw wool. Cotton broadloom is being introduced by some of the big carpet companies.

Blends include acetate and nylon, combinations of wool and man-made fibers, and all man-made fibers. New patterns in wool also are being shown. Earth hues, wood tones and soft greys are among the popular colors. What's New in Furniture Mingle the tender morsels of extra lean, protein-rich Beef in the mild Barbecue Sauce; heat.
