H. Hardy, of Hardyvlllc, is In town or was Ttrdty. CORRESPONDENCE. Phescott, A. June 15, 1875.

To the Editor Arizona Miner: Sib: In the issue of your paper of the 11th Inst. 1 observe from the correspondence of Col. Bigelow and Hon. C. A.

Luke, that a portion of the fuuds collected by subscription of citizens of Presoott and vicinity, for the benefit of Mrs. Brown'3 children, has been withheld by those gentlemen, on the mere supposition that the children of Mrs. Brown were not In need of it at the present time. Now, be that as It may, I can see no reason why these gentlemen should withhold said money on that account, for it is very strange that they should assntnc to dispose of money intended by the domfors for that object, for the reason that they thought the parties for whom it was intended did not need it, etc. Now, the facts in the ease as I ata informed, and believe, are these Something more than one year ago, the ladies referred to did circulate a petition asking a donation for the benefit of Mm.

Brown's children, aud the amount etir.ed by Col. Bigelow was turned over to him, for that purpose, and for no other, as the card hereunto annexed will clearly show; and why it is that these gentlemen should assume to withhold the fuuds so donated I would Hkc to know, lor it certain'y seems to mc that a person has a right to flonate his money or other effects to any person tir purpose he may sec fit, whether the persons to whom fucIi donation is made is in need of it or not; arid why Col. Bigelow should apply to Mr. Luke to dispose of the balance on hand, and why Mr. Luke should assume to order that said money should be turned over to Mr.

L. Bashford remains a mystery to rac, unless it be that Mr. Bashford ueeds the money in his Now tlies'j are blatters that certainly need an explanation, oid I hope the gentleman who have assumed to dispose tt the money, In the manner above referred tb, will either pay over said money to the persons for whom it was intended, or give the donators a better and more satisfactory reason than they have jet done, for it certainly does appear from the following eard, that said fuuds were intended lbr the children of Mrs. Brown, and lor no others. I am not asking for this money for myself or because the children arc in need, but because it was given to them before I ever saw them, and I now feel it my duty as their guardian to see thai they have their rights.

Hexuy Colquettk. Prescott, June 5, 1S75. We, the undersigned, citizens of Prescott and vicinity, subscribed money for the benefit of Mrs. Brown's children said subsciplion was solicited by Mrs. C.

A. Luke and Miss Kerr, and said money so subscribed and paid was intended as a do-notion for the bencllt of the said Mrs. Brown's children, and no others: O. Allen. W.

A correspondent from Aubrey, on the Colorado, has written ns an interesting letter -which wU find a place In onr columns next week. A Correspondent from Ash creek famishes the following Stemmer has lately had bis house plastered. It now contains seven plastered and neatly furnished rooms, and the station is represented as a very attractive place for travelers. Mrs. Stemmer has general charge of the house and poultry yard, an Is quite aud adept in the management of long-legged colts a joke perhaps on Mrs.

S. The Cherry Creek mines, he says, are quite es sood as they are represented. The Mu qui Indian, on thulr recent trading exenrsion to Prescott, paid Ash creek a visit and behaved impudently, though tL'ey were too closely watched to get away with anything except what was glveu to them. Our correspondent thinks they were actirrzas spies for the Apaches or Tontos, and that the were conreying supplies to the rcue gades from San Carlos that Sciber's scouts killed and captured about tbat time. Several questions arc asked that we cannot answer Such as "How many men have fallen by the scalping knife Who was it whose blood saturated the soil of the battlefields ol the late rebellion Must we be murdered by the noble red man Who caused the Indians to leave the reservations? This latter question the writer answer in a little couplet, thus "Indian Agent! who rame to erief Uy giting credit for too much beef." A New Postoffice has beeti established at Spaulding's Station, Agua Fria II.

Marr, Postmaster. This is a move iu the rteht direction, but there sloulQ be another at Ash Creek and at Lower Agua Fria, and a mall route through to Phoenix on the new road. Pecples Valley also needs a postoffice, on the Wickenburg route, say at Charley Oenttng's place, and it would not hurt to have one at Bowers' ranch or at Dixon's, in Skull vulle1. These places arc on the regular mall route and could be supplied without additional expense, and as the valleys settle up are very necessary for the accommodation of settlers. The postoffice for Williamson Valley has been left out ol the new schedule.

There should be an olllce at some convenient point on ll.e road in that valley. The creasing, we are told, Tould be an eligible place to put it. Certificate of Stock. We have to thank our friend John Wasson, of the Centennial Com mission, for a prtsenl of one share of the capital stock of the Centennial Board of Finance. The certificate Ifi ol itfelf an aligorical picture of one hundred years progress of the United States in science, arts and civilization, from Washington to Grant, beautifully printed, and worth its par value, tcrl dollars, as an ornament to Tra Tie arid hang up.

We shall take especial pride In preserving it, while we live, and hand It down to somebody elic's posterity as a memento Of the one hundredth anniversary of American Inde. pendeucc. Death from Praltsis. An elderly man by the name of John Walker, who has been about the streets of Prescott lor several months in a partially paralyzed condition, died on Sunday. June 13th, and was buried by-order of Supervisor Kendall on Monday.

We have been unable to learn much ol his history other than that he was an old California! and bus lived iu Dowuievillc iu that Slate. His apparent age was something over fifty years. That is a beautiful knife Mr. Sontag presented us. It has the words "Lady's Knife" engraved on the handle, but we'd, like to 6ee the color of the lady's hair that would take it away from us.

A telegram yesterday from San Diego announces the safe arrival there of our young friend W. C. Bashford, whose departure from Prescott we negleled to menlion last week. Will's tunny friends will be glad to learn that his health has greatly improved on the trip. The absence of the Mayor aud City Treasnrer leaves our City government rather short of officers, and devolves the heft of the responsibility on the Marshal.
