A gasoline motor car will be given a test trip on the Lykens Valley railroad between Millersburg and Lykens next week. The car will seat about forty passengers and if the trip is successful it may bemused regularly on the branch. The Millersburg Electric Light Company may extend the system to Halifax.

Next Tuesday evening at 7.30 o'clock, in the Lyric Theater, F. W. Delancy, editor of the Poultry Item, will address the Millersburg Poultry Association! Rev. C. G.

White, while camping in Centre county this week ran across the remains of bear that had evidently been shot last fall, nnd was not found by the hunter. L. Knisely, of Harrisburg, Deputy Factory Inspector, was in Carlisle last week inspecting the factories, stores and bakeshops. His report in all cases will be favorable, with the exception of some of the bakeshops. These, he says, could be in a more sanitary state. The big industries, he claims, are in the best condition.

Mrs. Emil Iseman, who died at her home in Baltimore on Thursday, was buried from the residence of her sister, Mrs. Mary Stine, on East Lou fther street, yesterday afternoon. Mrs. iseman death was due to a stroke of paralysis.

She was 48 years old. A meeting of the Carlisle Board of Trade will be held this evening for the purpose of forming a permanent organization and adopting by laws. Ex Councllman W. L. Loescr, of the Harrisburg Board of Trade, will address the meeting and offer suggestions.

Leonard Llns purchased at public sale on Saturday the Failor property, at Penn and Bedford streets, for $5,000. The property is a two story brick, mansard roof dwelling, with storeroom, a brick bakery and stable. Mr. and Mrs. J.

I SESSSKSSI TgE troiy QUIET FOURTH IS MUCH DESIRED Efforts of Civic Club 1 Expected to Bear Fruit Are A determined effort to have a sane Fourth of July will be made by the Civic Club.

The efforts of the club started the campaign which ended in an ordinance passed by Council for a quiet Fourth but the measure will not be in force until next year, giving the merchants who have purchased pyrotechnics aN chance to dispose of them. The club will try to have waste paper and other combustible material removed from places where they are likely to become ignited. A con lecture will be given on the High School lawn in the evening. The burgess will Issue orders pro hibiting the sale or use of explosives except from midnight of the third until midnight of the Fourth. Special effort will be made against the use of the toy pistol.

Sarah Shell, of 822 South Third street, died last evening at 7 o'clock. The; funeral will be held to morrow afternoon. Burial in Oberlin Cemetery. To Present Petition When one or two more property owners between Adams and Chestnut streets on Second street have attached their signature to the petition for the paving of this section, it will be ready to be presented to Council for approval and for appropriation of money for the intersections. The first effort was made to have the street paved over its entire length but much opposition was encountered and the committee is taking sctions at a time in an effort to influence the remaining property holders.

Makes Locomotive His Guillotine Terre June 20. Despondent as a result of a long spree, Henry Bruner, a carpenter, carefully planned suicide, which he carried out in a unique manner. He dug a hole between the rails on the Southern Indiana tracks south of the city and filled the hole with paper, then stood at the side of the tracks until a train came, and as it passed he threw himself under it so that his head was severed and fell Into the paper lined hole.

His wife says that he had been drinking hard for weeks and. was not himself. Nevertheless, the man worked out his plan with striking precision. The hole he had dug was between two ties. The severed head was picked up, packed in the papers with which he had carefuly lined the hole, and sent to this city.
