The commission approved the merger of Marion and Center Twps. to form the Danville Community School Corporation, and the merger of Middle, Union and Eel River Twps. into the North Hendricks Community School Corporation. Adoption of the two-unit plan Miami Heart Group to Set Separate Drive PERU — The Miami County Heart Association will conduct a separate Heart Fund campaign in February and will not participate in the newly organized Contributors, Inc., drive. The announcement was made Wednesday by George Denny, chairman of the Heart Association. Denny said it was the county board's opinion that public support of the Heart Fund and Heart programs is greater when people are free 'o give in a separate annual Heart campaign. Denny further stated that although the basic etncept of Contributors, Inc., is I iot altogether new to the American Heart sociation, it is an entirely different approach with respect to the Indiana Heart Association. He said that the Board of Directors has been assured by the Indiana Heart Association that the progress of Contributors, Inc., in Miami county will be closely studied and it is entirely possible that they may be permitted to allow the name of the Miami County Heart Association to be placed on the list of charitable organizations compiled by Contributors, Inc., and to accept funds collected in the drive in the not too distant future. now is up to the local communities. Petitions bearing signatures of 55 per cent of the registered voters may be circulated within 90 days, thus placing the plan in effect. If petitions are not circa lated or the necessary 55 per cenl of voters do not sign, the reorgan ization plan probably will be voted on at a referendum Nov. 6 when the general election is held. Four other reorganization school units were approved at the May 8 primary referendums, and operation of the Avon, Brownsburg, Mill Creek and Plainfield Community School Corporations already is in effect. The voters in Marion, Center, Eel River, Middle and Union Twps., however, turned down a proposal to merge them into one unit.
