Tight Budget Gives Realism To 'The Honeymoon Killers' Martha Beck and Raymond Fernandez were electrocuted at New York's Sing Sing prison March 8, 1951. It was just punishment for their series of murders which made national headlines. "The Honeymoon Killers" they were called in newspapers 'cross the nation. WORKING FROM a "Lonely Hearts Club" mailing list, Martha and Raymond preyed on the lonely-but-loaded matrons who'd answer Raymond's tepid-to-torrid letters. Money was the cunning couple's objective murder swiftly followed the payoff.

Now, at Loew's Downtown theater, "The Honeymoon Killers" is brought to the screen in an unwitting form of cinema veritie. "Unwitting" because it's obvious even to the layman that the 90-minute flick was produced on a shoestring budget. It's this deliberate cheapness in production that gives an aura of authenticity to the screenplay. DONE WITH GRAINY black-and-white film, poor-to-sloppy editing, one-position camera, secondhand furniture sets there's a tawdry truth to the bizarre story of an unreal, grotesque love affair between Martha Beck and Raymond Fernandez. Shirley Stoler is "Martha" an enormous, gross, lonely young registered nurse who relieves her frustrations via the compulsive-eating route.

Tony LoBianco is "Raymond" a "Latin from Manhattan," a Spanish-American who actually falls deeply in love with the pathetic pachyderm. He's a dapper dolt. Putty in the hands of Martha. If you can force yourself to sit thru the entire feature (several patrons left while I was at Loew's) and somehow overlook the chintziness of the production, you might find "The Honeymoon Killers" offbeat in several interesting ways 'Naked Lady' a Bit Flat So-o-o-o "What Do You Say To A Naked Lady?" After privately press-screening Allen Funt's new movie in Cincinnati Monday night I don't know what I'd say to a nude nymph but I heard and saw what others did. Using his proved Candid Camera technique, Funt has come up with a 90-minute color feature that explores and exposes our sexual hangups.

Justifiably X-rated because of its totally candid dialogue and sometimes total nudity "What Do You Say To A Naked Lady" is at worst, a bit of seriocomic divertissement at best, a thoroughly entertaining study of American hypocritical sexual taboos See you around town after dark of course. New Ballel Is Nureycv 'Triumph9 By ANDREW TORCHIA LONDON Rudolf triumped Monday night at Covent Garden without Margot Fonteyn, in a bal-whose story every dancer knows it's at the top.

The Soviet-born won unstinting praise from London critics for his performance in "The Ropes of Time," which the Royal ballet gave its world premiere. The ballet by Dutch choreographer Rudi Van Dantzig got mixed reviews, Van Dantzig created the ballet for Nureyev, who defected from Leningrad's Kirov ballet in Paris nine years ago and teamed with Dame Margot to become classical ballet's biggest box office attraction. "The Ropes of Time" is about man's journey through life to death. Some critics saw it also as the dancer's struggle to retain his art and his inevitable defeat by age. "We need not look far for an example of genius struggling against the ropes of time," said John i a I of the Times, apparently referring to 50-year-old Dame Margot.

The classically trained nureyev considered his role, with its free, modern movements, the most difficult he had ever tried.
