Monday, October 17, 1938 Wisconsin THE WISCONSIN STATE JOURNAL Madison Radio News and Programs 300 Expected to Attend Junior Livestock Show Violin Back As Yeggs Regret Act News Broadcasts TONIGHT Eucharistic Congress from New Orleans on Airwaves Tonight More than 300 rural young persons are expected to meet Monday through Thursday at the University of Wisconsin for the 23rd annual Junior Livestock exhibition, university officials disclosed Saturday. Arlie Mucks of the college of agriculture and superintendent of the show, said that the exhibitions in the university livestock pavilion will give residents of Madison and vicinity an opportunity to witness some of the finest fat stock produced in Wisconsin. The exposition here is held annually under auspices of the college and the Wisconsin Livestock Breeders assn. 'College Night On Monday about 250 baby beeves, 200 fat lambs, and 500 barrows will be placed in the pavilion. Monday night the exhibitors will be entertained at a "college night" program in Agricultural hall under the direction of Wakelin McNeel, assistant state club leader.

Judges for the Tuesday program are R. E. Reynolds, Lodi, baby beef; Walter Renk, Sun Prairie, lambs, and Burlie Dobson, Lancaster, swine. A theater party will be given the exhibitors Tuesday night by The Wisconsin State Journal. On Wednesday more judging will take place.

A banquet will close the program. Closes Thursday Thursday will close the exposition with the sale of baby beeves, lambs, and pigs at public auction in the stock pavilion. The committee in charge of the sale consists of Peter Templcton, Evans-ville, chairman; R. E. Reynolds, Lodi; Monte Kewley, Milwaukee; J.

G. Fuller, Madison; A Bolz, Madison; J. E. McGillivary, Milwaukee; and Oswald Neesvig, Madison. The exposition committee in charge is composed of Arlie Mucks, superintendent; Mrs.

Beu-lah Olson, Madison, assistant superintendent; in charge of baby beef exhibits, J. G. Fuller, Madison, and J. S. Earll, Prairie du Chien; lambs, James Lacey, Madison, and M.

F. Hogan, Waunakee; swine, J. M. Fargo, Madison, and S. C.

One week ago a prowler entered the room where 70-year-old Albert Klingbeil lives on $18.32 monthly relief and gathered up the $15,000 instrument with shirts and socks and an old pair of binoculars. Klingbeil was ill from grief when he found that the violin which had been in his family 238 years was missing. Producers of the Bob Hope show considering Maxie Rosenbloom Jack Smart for additional comedy berths on this new series. "Good News" may not go off air in December after all. The agency and the sponsor are both eager for a renewal and MGM is warming up to the idea now that the production is clicking. Dizzy Dean may do some guest spots soon and is being considered for the air in that baseball classic, "Elmer the Great." The newlyweds whom Eddie Cantor interviewed on his opening show were the McCoy. In return for their appearance, Cantor gifted them with a honeymoon check of generous proportions.

A new script show built around the life of Pancho Villa, the famous Mexican bandit chief, and starring Leo Carrillo, is being offered for sponsorship. Looks like good bet. A script show, "This Day is Ours," has been bought by the sponsor of "Life Can Be Beautiful," "Pepper Young's Family" and numerous other 15 minute daily serials. The new series will be authored by Carl Bixby and Don Becker, the duo authoring "Life Can Be Beautiful." Frankie Masters and his orchestra, hoard on Edgar Guest's "It Can Be Done" series, will play for the Chicago Community fund broadcast Oct. 18.

Edward G. Robinson's successful air drama, "Big Town," may soon hit the screen as a serial based on the the broadcast scripts which gave such a high rating last season. Lud Gluskin, bandleader, who will accompany Al Jolson on his trip east for New York broadcasts starting Oct. 25 for six weeks, will recruit a band in Radio City during, the stay. Arthur Vinton, after a plunge on Broadway, has returned to the cast of "Pepper Young's Family." He will also be heard on "Johnny Presents" dramatizations again.

Beggs Lists Progressive Dane Rallies A scries of progressive party meetings from Monday through next Saturday was announced Saturday by Dist. Atty. Lyall T. Beggs, who is in charge of Dane coun' progressive efforts. All night meetings are sched uled to begin at 8 county progressive have been invited.

La Follette is scheduled for today at 12:45 p. m. over WTMJ. Leaves Crash Scene, Driver Fined $10 John Kiefer, 837 E. Mifflin was fined $10 or 10 days in superior court Saturday, and ordered to make restitution for an accident Friday night.

He was charged with failure to stop after the accident, when the car he was driving was alleged to have struck the car of H. H. Hagen, parked at 2318 E. Johnson st. Police said Kiefer left the scene.
