(AP) Edge Robeson Reid, 81, former executive editor and associate publisher of The Columbus Ledger and The Columbus Enquirer, died Monday at St. Francis Hospital. LEOPOLDO FERNANDEZ MIAMI (UPI) -Leopoldo Fernandez, a Cuban comedian who starred in television and radio comedy shows, died Monday. Known as "Tres Patines" or Three Skates, Fernandez was best known for his role as a zany lawbreaking character on the Cuban OBITUARIES television show "La Tremenda Corte," which is still in syndication and runs daily throughout Latin America and on at least one Miami television station.

Fernandez left Cuba when Fidel Castro came to power and settled in Miami. JAMES HANLEY LONDON (AP) James Hanley, 84, an author and playwright who wrote 25 novels and several dozen short stories in a career spanning more than 50 years, died Monday. (AP) -Mayor Lee Alexander has offered up to $375,000 in city financing toward the construction costs of a proposed Piedmont Airlines reservation center at Hancock International Airport.

Jerry Lee Lewis has stomach surgery MEMPHIS, Singer Jerry Lee Lewis had one third of his stomach removed during ulcer surgery yesterday. Lewis, known for his energetic performances and hectic private life, was reported in satisfactory condition after the four-hour operation at Methodist Hospital. Lewis has suffered from ulcers for several years and was hospitalized for two months in 1981 because of a torn stomach lining. Relatives said he nearly died during surgery to repair that tear.
