Winston of Evanston, 111. Miss Buchen, who is a granddaughter of Mrs. Louis II. Head, 416 Wisconsin and a niece of Mrs. Thomas Coleman, Maple Bluff, made her debut in 1935.

She is a graduate of the North Shore Country Day school and of Pine Manor. Mr. Winston was graduated from Amherst college and the law school of Yale university. The wedding will take place in the autumn. AAUW Branch Elects New Officers Saturday Announced Mrs.

Hospital Notes Kneller Condition Reported Good Samuel Kneller. 82, of 1 E.

Gilman was reported in good condition today at Madison General hospital where he is under treatment for injuries suffered when he and his wife were struck by a car Friday. Mrs. Kneller died of injuries Saturday morning. Paul! Improves Peter Pauli, 14, who was struck by a Madison bus Friday while riding his bicycle, was reported in fair condition today at Madison General hospital. Hospital attendants said the boy regained consciousness Saturday morning.

He is the son of Mrs. Katharina Pauli, UN. Henry st. Mrs. Barrett Better Mrs.

Edith aBrrctt, 635 Howard was reported in fairly good condition today at St. Mary's hospital where she was taken by police ambulance Sunday for treatment of an illness. Mary Polonl 111 Mary Poloni, 209 Buell was reported in good condition today at St. Mary's hospital where she was taken by police ambulance Sunday for treatment of an illness.

When they return from their wedding trip, the young people will spend the summer at Silver lake near Portage and in the fall will reside in Portage. The bride attended the University of Wisconsin, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and the National College of Education in Evans-ton, 111. Mr. O'Connor was graduated from the University of Wis consin law school in 1937. East Side News Mr.

Headed by Prom King Samuel Martin and his queen, Betty Lynch, about 75 couples took part in the grand march at the high school junior prom Friday night in the school gym, Dick Harris's orchestra of Madison furnished the music. During intermission a program was given, which featured the annual presentation of the spade and spoon which went to Gerald Frei and Helen Groven, respectively, who have been selected by their classes as outstanding students. The presentation was made by Ralph Kvitle and Mildred Rein, who have held them since a year ago. New officers for the Madison branh of the American Association of University Women were elected at the organization's an-. nual meeting held Saturday afternoon at the College club.

The officers for the term 1940-41 are: Miss Mary Andersen, first vice president; Mrs. Frank L. Clapp, secretary; Mrs. Carl J. Marsh, assistant treasurer; and Miss Sarah Ross, director-at-large.

The term of the president, Mrs. Paul M. Fulcher, does not terminate until next year. Members of the nominating committee for 1941 were elected as follows: Mrs. Philip Fairchild, Mrs.

Gregory Breit, Mrs. Clara B. Flett, Mrs. Elmer R. Meacham.

The chairman, Mrs. Milton J. Shoemaker, also served on the committee last year. Mrs. Marvin B.

Rosenberry, past national president of the A. A. U. outlined the history and purpose of the organization. "The main purpose of the A.

A. U. W. has always been to open the door of opportunity to women," Mrs. Rosenberry said.

"Only those institutions really worthy of the standards set by the A. A. U. W. have been admitted to membership in the association." A committee for the economic and legal status of women was added to the standing list of committees in response to the stand taken by the national board of the A.

A. This stand was taken because of the increase in sentiment against the employment of married women. Plans were announced for a gardei party to be held at the home of Mrs. H. S.

Manchester sometime during the month of June, To A ttend Meeting Mrs. J. M. Fargo and Mrs. S.

A. Oellerich will represent the Euterpe club at the state convention of the Wisconsin Federation of Music clubs to be held in Eau Claire May 5, 6, and 7. MRS. E. P.
