Julie died accidentally and tragically at home on Saturday, March 6, 2004. She loved life, and wanted every experience life had to offer. She put more into 17 years than many do in a lifetime. Her underlying goodness was reflected in the attitude she had toward life. Julie never allowed injustice anywhere she spoke against it at each and every opportunity.

She wanted to change the world, one person at a time, with her open and loving soul. At Eagle School, and then Middleton High, she was a terrific student. Her insight and energy showed through every year. She played on the tennis team and the track team. She was committed to the environment, and the Envirothon was a favorite activity.

She was co-president of the Alliance against homophobia, and spoke often to the school class about the acceptance of all people, of all attitudes. She was a fabulous snow-boarder, water-skier, and soccer player. Julie loved her friends, and they loved her. She enjoyed going out to lunch, and simply talking and connecting with everyone. Her spirit will live on; we will always love her and never forget her.

She leaves many heartbroken: siblings A.J., John Madeline; her parents, Tom and Catherine; four grandparents; 15 aunts and uncles; 15 cousins; and countless teachers, friends and people she touched in her life. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 9, 2004, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m.

on Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, with Monsignor Terrence Connors and Monsignor Michael Burke co-officiating.
