10 THE EVENING INDEPENDENT, MASSILLON, OHIO MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 1955 SEVEN Carol Stoner Is Bride Of Herman John Fahrner One of the loveliest appointed weddings of the month of September took place Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the First Reformed church, Canton, when Miss Carol! Virginia Stoner, daughter of Lester P. Stoner of 9 Willard ave NE and the late Mrs. Stoner pledged wedding vows with Herman John Fahrner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Fahr-1 ner of 1221 Saratoga ave SW, Canton.

The double ring ceremony was performed by the Dr. Karl Koepke. A setting of potted palms and ferns, stately! white gladioli and pompons and white carnations in gold vases, arranged on the church altar, was set off by the glow of lighted white candles in seven branched candelabra. MISS STONER chose a lovely gown of white Chantilly lace and nylon tulle fashioned with a fitted bodice, a manderin neckline and long sleeves which came to points over the hands. The full bouffant skirt was designed of lace over tulle. Her fingertip veil of imported silk illusion was held in place with a Juliet cap of matching lace trimmed in seed pearls. She carried a purple throated white orchid with stephanotis which showered a cascade of white satin ribbons. The bride also carried out the tradition of something old, new, borrowed and blue and placed a penny in her shoe for luck.

Meeting the bride and her father at the altar was the groom and Walter Wright of Canton, who served as best man. MISS MARIE FAHRNER of Canton, sister of the groom, as maid of honor, was gowned in blue crystalette, carried a colonial of pink carnations with blue and pink forget-me-nots and wore a matching head band of forget-me-nots. Pink crystalette was worn by the Wooster bridesmaids, and Mrs. Miss David Clela Amstutz Darling of Canton, both close friends of the bride. The attendants wore identical basque like, ballerina length gowns and carried colonial bouquets of blue carnations, pink and blue, forget-me-nots and wore matching headbands of forget-menots.

The mother of the groom wore a brown lace gown with beige uccessories and pinned a yellow carnation corsage to her shoulder. A RECEPTION was held immediately following the wedding in the church parlors. The bridal table, covered with a white linen (Additional Society--Page 17) cloth, was centered with a fourtiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom with two doves carrying wedding rings. Surrounding the wedding cake were pink and blue carnations entwined with huckleberry leaves. Crystal epergnes held pink and blue carnations and white tapers, adding beauty to the setting.

Reception hostesses were Mrs. Wilbert Jones, Mrs. Russel! Edwards, Mrs. Edward Gumpf and Mrs. Duane Amstutz.

Miss Jean Marshall had charge of the guest book. Out of town guests were from Wooster, Sterling, Orville, Cleve-1 land and Akron. The bride changed to a pink suit with black patent accessories and pinned the orchid from her bridal bouquet to her shoulder when the young couple left on a honeymoon trip. Mrs. Fahrner, a graduate of Dalton high school, is employed as secretary in the main office of the Eaton Manufacturing Co.

The groom graduated from Timken Vocational high school and is employed by the Timken Roller Bearing Co. in Canton. Mr. and Mrs. Fahrner gave the rehearsal dinner Saturday evening at the Swiss club.

MARY BETTEKER Mrs. Mary Betteker, who resides her daughter, Mrs. Maude Roderick 'of 325 Main st, Navarre, celebrated her 95th birthday anniversary which occurs today, with open house Sunday at her hcme. Sunday's program was highlightec with the visit of a group of women from St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church Navarre, of which she is a member, who sang her favorite hymns following the regular morning worship lice.

Mrs. Roderick's two additional children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, as well as a number of friends, called to offer congratulations. Refreshments were served from a table centered with a birthday cake and decorated with flowers St. Paul's church and the "Navatre Evangelical United Brethren church of which Mrs. Roderick is a member.

The CUB church sent the flowers used on the altar during the morning ship service. Cross Roads. She has five grandchildren and 16 great-grandchil- MRS. RODERICK was born near Eaton, one of nine children of the late Mr. and Mrs.

Tulius Flory. She is the last surviving member of her family. She came to Navarre from Canton in 1904 and has resided in the village ever since. She is a life member of the Evangelical and Reformed church and has been a member of St. Paul's She church is a since charter moving member to Navarre.

Women's guild of the church and a member of the Mary Martha class to which she was hostess earlier this month. Although she has been a semiinvalid during the past three years she enioys visitors and is leased when her friends play the niano and sing for her. Due to sight, she does not enioy television but, with the aid of a hearing device, she likes to listen. to the radio. In addition to Mrs.

ZELTMAN When Miss Dolores Jean Thompson and Robert Dale Zeltwere married Saturday, Sept. 3, at 2 o'clock Beach City Methodist church, the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Arthur Thompson of Beach City, was at the organ to provide the wedding music. The bride, who is affectionately known as Sally to her family and friends, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Andrew Thompson of Beach City, Mr. Zeltman is the son of Mrs. Otto Zeltman and the late Mr. Zeltman of Strasburg. The reception was held in Mid's restaurant, Navarre.

For their wedding trip the young couple motored to Niagara Falls end Canada and will live with the groom's mother in Strasburg. Mrs. Zeltman is a senior student nurse in the Aultman Hospital School of Nursing, Canton. Mr. Zeltman served three years with the United States Marines, one year of which was spent in Korea.

Anna Klein, teacher of the class, read a letter from her daughter, Mrs. Walter Harris (Harrict Klein) of Naugatuck, which gave a vivid account of the devastation left in the path of hurricane Connie, the efforts of the people of that slate in rehabilitation and their need for aid. Mr. and Mrs. Homer V. Morland of Eckard rd, Dalton, formerly of Massillon, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday at the residence of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.

William 0. Kelly of 1318 Walter ave NE. Mr. and Mrs. Morland were married Sept.

21, 1915 at San Francisco, Cal. They are the parents of six children, three of whom are living, Robert L. Morland of Dalton, Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Olon Sandwith of this city, and have five grandchildren.
