distrust ay he arisen from the declaration of the principles hich we to guide that body, made by Seember. This General, a faGen. Cordova st vorite of Boli, discoed a plan which has been gendislikedand enezuela, which for long erally declaring herself hostile time hen desire repeation, to such proj, piclaimed her independence. At the same tile page was drawn up in Bogota, by Garcia delo, in which the necessity of a mon one in Colon was proclaimed; the Liberator to archy be the Thee ideas boldly proclaimed by one in Colombia, and who had just le hisappearance which justified decaration of Cordova, were supby seveof the persons employed by the goported vertment, and Col. Cambell, the English Minister, with Lesson, the French Agent. To such together degreo was thation alarmed at seeing that it was a intended to trale under foot the sacrifices of twenty years, that thenaller and more peaceful provinces remonstrated top Congresa already in session, manifosting their option to a system against which they had been in arra far back ay 1810.

Venezuela withdrew her powerom her deputies, and saw her opinion in favor of a oration followed by the departments of Maturin, Orin and Zulia, who also among their first measures aged that of recalling their representatives and of disiming, like Venezuela, the authority of Gen. Bolivar. enezuela has called a convention of her own to frogs constitution, and the Congress of Bogota, thinking reconcile these differences, names a commission of ice, while the Executive orders troops from all points, from the extreme south, to march towards Tachira The mission of pence is not permitted to proceed to caccas: it 18 stopped at Cuenta, and a proposition is Me that a mission from Venezuela shall come to tres ith it. In the mean time the Venezuelan governme sends also to the south several veteran bodies of trpe, and forms new ones. To this force will be untedhat of the batallions which follow the example of passing from the department of the Magdalen te Maracaibo.

Gen. Bolivar, being temporarily withrain from the command, nominates Senor Caicedo, liniser of foreign relatione, to exercise the supreme pour, and this citizen, eminent for his integrity and bevolence, as respectable for his By sad possessionenters reluctantly upon the charge.A month scarcel elapses, when a portion of the department of Bosca, (the plains of Casanare,) call. upon the Venezuen troops stationed on the Avanca, the boundary beseen New Grenada and Venezuela. The Minister Caido receives with this news the declarition of the deirtment of Cauca, in which it nifesta ita opinion in vor of the separation of New Grenada, and this funconary proposes, as the sole means of conciliation, of reventing civil war, and of legally framing 0 for the country, to dissolve the Congress, many of whose members had been deprived of their powers, aodto call a convention for New Grenada. The messgeof Caicedo is attacked in the gress by the Garcia del Rio and Francisco Martin, and the der members are of opinion that the time is not arrivedor such a measure, hoping in spite of the decided onion of Venezuela, a conciliati on which shall preset the integrity of the territory.

This is all that in certaiup to this period. his said, thoug without foundation, that Gen. Bolivar has resumed de power, naming Garcia del Rio Minister of sole object, it is said, which this person has had irview in all his political labors in Colombia, which hre not yet exceeded a single year. The reputation ofien. Bolivar seems to be in a bad dition All class blame him, agreeing that it dependdon his will aloe to settle the country, but this has not been done. there is neither commerce nor agriculture, and if peaces enjoyed, it is because the people are naturally well mening, and have grown weary of suf.

fering, It is said, also, bat war will be levied against zuela, and although some are of opinion that Venezuela should be abandoned to its destiny without any particulat declaration repecting it, it is thought that General Bolivar counsellet by Garcia del 1 Rio and Castillo will make war. In that case the result will not be at all tisfactory. The troops of Bolivar are all Venezuela emmanded by officers of the same country, among whom the opinions of Venezuela are favorably regarded Besides, the war is unpopular from Tachira to the Equator. P.S. There lives about four leagues from Bogota, in the town of Fabio, an Indian 140 years of nge, named Jain Mozo Gota Untilthis age he has been a bachelor, and has just married a woman of thirty.

From Colombia. -The Savannah Georgian of the 22d, publishes an account of the revolution of General Urdaneta in Colombia, similar to that which has been given in the daily papere here. The intelligence was brought to Savannah on the 21st, by the brig America from St. Thomas, where it had been received by the mail bout Laguira. The revolution is said to have taken place the 22d of April when the whole country ruse and declared itself in favor of Venezuela.

Bolivar with Gen. O'Leary and a few followers. it is said, fled precipitately towards Carthagena, it is presumed to get out of the country, and his power was at an end. Gen. Arismendi's proclamation dated Caraccas, April 25th, sad announcing the revolution, is mentioned.

The whole story, however, does not seem to us vory probable, though the report was doubtless either behired at Caraccas, or else laid hold of by Arismendi as convenient for his purposes. If any insurrection against the power of Bolivar has taken place, the circumstances are unquestionably exaggerated. Seizures -The Collector of the District of East River in Virginia, has seized the schooner Benjamin Franklin, of Folly Landing, from Martinique, laden with Brandy and Molasses, bound up the Bay, for a violation of the Revenue Law. She was engaged when taken possession of. (Sunday) in discharging her cargo on board of craft which were along side of her.

The Governor of this state bas appointed Jamieson Cox, Register of this city, to Gill the vacancy occasioned by the death of Thomas Franklin. Mr. Cox was sworn foto office this forenoon. The mail bags of the Milford and Owego Mail, which were stolen from the contractor's office, at Jersey City, found yesterday morning in last Thursday night, were the woods, on Bergen Hill, cut open. The packages of dotters which were supposed to contain money, had been taken out, broken open, and strewed upon the ground Even the newspaper packages did not escape the scrutiny of the villains.

They were also broken and destroy. el. The exact number of letters missing, has not yet been ascertained. Weare desired to call the attention of the public to she opening of the books of subscription for the stock of Mechanics' and Traders' Bank, to-morrow, at the corner of Grand and Pitt street, in the 13th ward. 1a the editor of the Washington Telegraph aware how much he suffers by the irregularity with which subscribers to his paper in this city receive Friday's Telegraph due yesterday did not come to hand until this moruing--and the one issued on Saturday is bebind to-day, while all the other Washington papers are received.

Mechanics' Benevolent meeting of the members of this Association will take place at the House of Mr. M' Daniel, No. 9 Park, this evening. to From the Salem Gazette. The Murder -Two other persons were arrested at Wenham on Wednesday evening last, as accomplices the murder of Capt.

Jos. White--their names are Capt. Joseph J. Knapp. jun.

and Capt. John Knapp, masters of vessels. They are young men, belonging to a the very respectable family, and the first in son-in-law of lady who was a njece to Capt. White and for many years This had arrest lived in his family as housekeeper. we understand has been made in consefew quence of disclosures recen ly made by a man arrested days ago near Belfast, in the State of Maine, by the name of Palmer.

Palmer was in this town from the 231 Feb. till the funeral of Capt. White. In his disclosure he mentions that he staid at the Lafayette Coffee House some time under the assumed name of Cart; and on recurring to the books of that establishment it appears that a stranger who called his name Carr remained there two Weeks without appearing to have any business or any acquaintance in town, and spent his time in reading and retirement. The arrest of Palmer was made in consequence of al letter received here about ago, by mail, from the vicinity of Belfast, addressed to Capt.

J. Knapp," to be purporting to come from one Grant, demanding money sent to him by mail, to be left at the Post Office in the town of person then went from this in town, it, addressed deposited in that Post Office a letter with money to -after waiting a few days, a person was appeared and called for the latter, saying his name Grant, -the letter was delivered to him, and as he was about- to retire from the Post Office with it, an officer stepped forward and arrested him. It turned out that his name was not Grant, but Palmer, and that his place of residence was in another town. He is now in custody, and is to be brought to this town. A search was made yesterday, under a warrant from Mr.

Justice Savage, about the premises of the Crowninshields, in Danvers, but we believe the objects sought for were not discovered. The Knapps are committed to goal for examination. From the Belfast (Maine) Journal. The Salem Murder every thing connected with this mysterious, cold blooded and unnatural murder, is still interesting to the public, we hasten to narrate lacts which throw new light upon the transaction. A young man, who is known to be an associate of the young Crowninshiolds, was appreh: nded in Prospect, a town adjoining thin, and examined before a magistrate, when from a disclosure of facts, circumstances and confessions of the prisoner, not a doubt exists that he is in possession of the whole mystery--knows the persons who committed the murder--the person who procured it to be doneand the inducements and motives which operated upon the minds of both parties.

A letter, written by the prisoner to a gentleman in Salem, requesting the loan of $350, threatening a discloanre of a transaction which would harrow up his soul" in case of refusal, which letter providentially fell into other hands, led to this detection. From the respectability of other persons implicated in the murder, we forbear at present to mention their names. A further examination will probably develope the connecting links of a chain of the most extraordinary circumstances ever disclosed to the public. Suffice it now to say, that it appears from the confessions of the prisoner. that the Crowninshields are the only persons now arrested in Salem who were probably concerned in the murder.

Others will be taken into custody, no doubt, as soon as the result is known there. We shall then give our readers such facte as are proper to be nar. rated without prejudice to a trial of the accused. From the Newburyport Herald. It is stated that Palmer confessed there were nine persons concerned, directly or indirectly, in the murder of Mr.

White: that he was not the first victim intend. ed; two other persona. reputed to he wealthy, having been marked out before him. One of these last was watched for some time, but no fitting opportunity offered, for the successful commission of the act. The daggers used, he said, were melted; and the hatchet concealed in a place, which he designuted.

He firms the statement of Hatch, that the plot was contrived at a gambling house During the progress of the ezamination, it is said his father appeared and urged him to desist from further confessions, which be accordingly did. Palmer is said to be quite a young man, and was in the Maine State Prison before he was Lard, Hams, Navy Bread and Corn Meal." nineteen. Extract of a letter, dated ST THOMAS, May 1830. DYSPEPSIA. tor As several persons in different parts of the try have undertaken to prescribe for the dyspepsia, after my method, (as they represent) I find it necessary to state, that no person is at present essociated with me in the practice of my remedy, neither have I appointed any agents, either in this city or elsewhere, to use or practise it.
