MOST ATROCIOUS MURDER. The late Upper Canada papers contain an account the murder of a mother and six children, and the strongest suspicion ol this act rests upon Henry Sovereign, the tathf of the family. The following particn ars are from the pen of the Rev. Mr. Ejeron A general horror has been excited in the minds olih of tbeTLondon Disinet.

iK rtn.iiu. of one of the most atrocious and unnatural cnm everstauied the history of man it is the murder of a roomer, una six, not seven children I will briefly state the artirulars of this dark and bloody transaction, as detailed to me by the deeply afflicted Father and Brother mi the murdered Woman, and also by ou ol the Corouer's jury that investigates! it The principal evidence, i am informal bor, who lived between a quarter and a half a mila (rem the place where the murder stated that on Mondjy raornini. the 2 1st instant, soma time before day, Henry Sovt reign, the father of the uuruereu lara.iy. came to bouse, slightly wounded the breast and lelt rm. thai deters at his (Sovereicn's1! house and ih or expected tbey wouid kill his wile and lamily.

Tbe neignbur. in company with Sovereign, came with all possible haste to the place. The first objnet that attracted his notice on his arrival, was a little infant oui iiim or lour months old, buriung on the fircona 1U legs was burnt off nearlv to th It ih, 1. part of its head was consumed, and its bidv wns miwh. burnt.

Near the hearth lav another child a moo nsenil)ility. Tins I believe it not yet dead.altbotig is not expecu to suivive. By the side of the duor was aiRither, in a sitting or aiuaiting posture, having been struck on the head with a bludgeon or some large instrument, which occasioned eatb. A fourth was found out ol d.a ik. truer of the house.

lifeless, and hloedm ground. About a rod a from the house, in a path which led to an old hovel, was seen a fifth in the u.ns state. Nearly a rod laxther in the same path was found a young wman, about 17 years of age, a corpse, la the yard in trout of the hovel, lay the mother and a little boy close together, weltering in their blood. Close by the mother was observed the blade of a knife all bloody. It was found on examination, that she had received a blow oa the back of her neck, which fractured her skull and dislocated her neck bow, and had also been stat.ted in the pit ol the stomach, so as to pierce the vitals, and divide one of the lam arteries, which bled most Drofuseir.

The knife fc.Ud was immediately challenged as Sovereign's, and the unfortunate woman's brother declared that be had frequently seen it at his (Sovereign's) boase. Search being made, the handle of the knife was found about two rods from the place where the blade lay. and it was said that sovereign had been seen a few days before putting a rivet in the sell same handle. Sovereign, however, denied having any knowledge of the kmle, and said he hud his knitein his pocket. He produced it at the request ol those present, and it was aUo bloody.

The above, together with the facta of Sovereign har ing brutalized himself bv intamnemnr and mdefcdt his family very unhappy, and at different tunes threatened their lives, and otherwise abused them, baa created a very general suspicion that he perpetrated the inhuman crime. Tbis sosMoon strengthened by the facts, that none we known to entertain any hosMlev teeling towards Sovereign' family no persona were discovered or suspected Sovereign's story that two men attacked his horse a little bef ore day aod tba manner ol hia escapiiur from them. aDMared to be quit I improbsbie that the bludgeon (which is a club or man aooui two leet long, aucb as is used in nvingshin gles) was found cuocm1jk1 Immmii ths mw auui am 1 1 her bed. and the mangled bodies ot the unfortunate nuniiy nad toe appearance of being dead soma lime est the arrival of the neighbour who first witnessed the dreadful scene.
