THE JOURNAL HERALD Dayton, Ohio 35 Networks' orgy of sleaze and tease waxes hot i By Howard Rosenberg Lm mmi Tkna wrtm Lovt for Ml Tht never-too-hot-to-trot networki do almost anything to lurt view ri at tht itart of a aeaion, But you lean always count on them to un tute, enaltlvity and erudition In ixploring jiuman sexuality and th relationship the sexes. The Dallas and Dynasty studies of the Judeo-Chrtstlan Impact on sexual morality are highly learned. And The Yellow Rose, Emerald Point NAS and For Love end Honor demonstrate an astuteness about the physiology of orgasm. Sex It a subject that TV approaches with the trained, clinical eye of the scholar. No tltlllation for the sake of ratings here.

Well maybe Just a little. ABC did Introduce Hotel thla month with an episode displaying Morgan Falrchlld as a hooker who la gang-raped. And ABC's Matt Houston coincidental devoted a recent episode to the murders of magazine centerfold subjects. Those two series are produced by progressive Aaron Spelling, a champion of equal-opportunity tltlllation. Arriving Sunday was that ABC aizzler, Spelling's The Making of a Malt Model.

Yes, finally a story for lusting females. Jon-Erik Hexum Is a young rancher who meets seductive modeling-agency owner played by Joan Collins. She Immediately recognizes his potential, ABC says, "in the bedroom as well as In the marketplace." Uh oh. ABC'i peeping Tomlsm continues with Voyeurs, a "bizarre" love-murder tale. No one pants harder than NBC.

It opened Its movie season with Sessions, In which Veronica Hamel was very good In a very bad story about a successful-but-sad call girl. NBC roars back Oct. 17 with the scorching Policewoman Centerfold. This Is a "fact-based" drama, presumably Inspired by Springfield, Ohio, policewoman Barbara Schantz, who was suspended for 37 days In 1982 for posing nude in Playboy magazine. Except that In this rot of a movie, the policewoman (played by Melody Anderson of NBC's Manlmal) Is suspended, and ostracized by her fellow cops.

She does Uttle more than remove her badge, so the "Centerfold" In the title Is a misleading come-on. Meanwhile, two nights later NBC arrives with Lovt Men, an hourlong special featuring beautiful women and male hunks. CBS Is, of course, too much of a stuffed shirt for this kind of pandering. Sure it Is. It has already brought that miserable excretion.

Secrets of a Mother and Daughter, which CBS mislead-Ingly had promised would be about "the destructive Jealousy between a mother and daughter over love of the same Except there were i "secrets," no love and no passion. Coming Oct. 24 on CBS, meanwhile, la First Affair, In which a college freshman baby-sits for her professor and has a fling with her husband. And In production for the same network is An Uncommon Love, a romance about a professor who has an affair with one of his students who works In a massage parlor. These kinds of rouged and painted dramas are maddening not only because they are conspicuously bad, as a rule, but also because you don't even get to see any real sex for your trouble.

They're teases all promises, but no payoffs. Except to the profiteering networks that make the promises.
