Indiana is up against it for a champion high achool football team this year. There arc plenty claimants for the title but how the question is going to be decided is something else again.

When Gary won from South Bend by a score of 19 to 0, on October SO, Hammond still remslned in the road ad ah obstacle to Gary's claims to the championship 'of northern Indiana. The Gray and Gold team, playing the best game in the high school's history, proceed to remove Hammond on November 6 by a 20 to 0 score. Hammond and South Bend had played a 0 to 0 tie, and Gary staged a celebration' that would have befitted the win ning of a national title. But on the same day Elkhart took the strong Goshen team over, 33 to 0 and in so doing, laid claim to the northern sectional championship. Obviously the title must go to the team that scores the most points against 8outh Bend.

Elkhart plays the Bride City, but not until November 20 and a game after that date would be out of the question. Assuming, however, that Elkhart will do little better than break even with South Bend, Gary has already challenged any team that may have established a clean claim to the down state title. Playing the best game that has been seen on high school fields in. many a day, the team la anxious to go its limit for football honors. With a team built around Chuck Harris and Ken Kneisley, two of the cleverest backs that have been seen in the state, Harrison Brlggs, the giant coach, has developed what experts, who have watched the team in action, ceil genuine college football.

Brlggs believes his team is of state championship material and is ready to make a clean test of It. of more than 100,000 population which the Germans have, captured during the present war Include Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent Lemberg (recaptured), Liege, Lille. Lod and Warsaw. Of these the last named, with a population of 872,478, is largest and Brussels, population 662,600, second. The use of sulphate of oxide aluminum wire in order to produce Insulation for electrical purposes is being adopted, and the process is now neing appaea to cooper wire.

An all white costume with a short jacket hung cape like and full from the shoulders is embroidered in silver thread and banded in white fox. The fur finished full skirt has big silver embroidered pockets on each side. The white boots are laced with silver and have a sliver tassel nestling in their fur tops. A white fox turban, sliver tasseled, topa the costume; and a huge round muff of the white fox, with silver tassels, takes the wearer in hand. This costume of snow and sliver is fit for the Ice Queen herself and no skittish skater could ever be a frost in it Gorgeous bags for skates, embroidered and fur trimmed to match the gay sweaters, hectic mufflers and quaintly ornate muffs are a few of the accessories necessary for the complete skater this year.

If a fair skater, thus heavily accountred, can still skate and get away with it, the is in a class' with Charlotte at the Hippo" drome, that peerlens pirouetter of the ice ballet. Incidentally, the introduction lof the ice ballet in several ot the New Tork musical productions seems to have given a spirit to the gentle art of skating that may freeze out the dance. But beware If you seek to emulate Charlotte with too much excess baggage. "Mother, may I go out to skate?" "Yes, but heed advice: "If you've a mulller, bag and muff, "Then don't go near the ice!"
