evil by Madid ecrets of the stars, fv. I 1 By PATRICIA O'HAIRE Radie Harris has traveled the world over, has been to" Buckingham Falace and had tea in the family palazzo in Monaco with Princess Grace and Prince Rainier. She has known, loved, liked and disliked, feuded with and been entertained by just about every top name in the world. A short, blonde, smiling woman who walks with the aid of a cane (she lost a leg in a childhood accident), Radie Is the New York correspondent of the Hollywood Reporter, a movie industry trade paper. And cane or no cane, she gets around more than most people do.

She makes several trips a year to Hollywood; she thinks of England as her second home call me 'Lady Harris' over there," she said. "And I've" always thought that in some earlier reincarnation, I probably was and she carries on a voluminous correspondence with people all over the world. She can drop more famous names in the course of a conversation than the telephone book can list, but she doesn't do it to impress. For the most vv i Am CO to i i Radie wnh Hepburn and Bogart on set of "The African Queen:" "You can't write a column without friends." PEOPLE, PLACES Dart, these people are her friends. Not only does she report on the comings, goings and various pecadillos of celebrities, she has, over the years, become a major part of that whole scene herself.

She makes almost every opening night and all the get-togethers she can fit into her schedule. A friend said he knows a party is official when Radie comes through the door. And now she's written a book about herself and all her friends and acauaintances. Called "Radie's World," it's published by G.P. Putnam Sons, and it tells all or nearly all about them in an informative but never heavy fashion.

Badie is no idle gossip. She prefers the title of reporter, and claims with pride such international news beats as the first marriage of Richard Burton to Elizabeth Taylor and the wedding of Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier. But she admits to holding back on items she cannot check personally, or ones that might hurt innocent people. Yet she insists she would not sacrifice a good story for a friend. "People say you can't write an honest column if the people you write about are friends.

But I say you can't write a column without friends. They're the ones who give you the news," she said. She joints to a paintin? in her living room, signed by George Bernard Shaw. had tea with him one day, and he let me take his picture. It's in the book." And while she enjoys looking for talented unknowns, she retains a special fondness for the older days of tho movies, when stars had mystery and glamour that sh finds missing today.

"I really don't like this new idea letting it all hang out," she says with some disgust. "I've met a lot of these new people, and -they hav nothing to say. Nothing except how much grass they'v smoked, or how many shrinks they've been to. I don't really care to know that. It was so much nicer when peopl showed a little more Noel Coward.

Noel hung it there himself, she explained proudly. And she talks -ith affectionate memories of Iter friendship with the late Tyrone Power, Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh. Robert Taylor and so many others. When asked who was the first really big star ah ever knew, Radie answers Vivien Leigh, whom she met through Gertrude Lawrence, a pretty big star herself. And it was Douglas Fairbanks who made that introduction.

He had quite a crush on Gertie at the time, Radie confides. She can go on and on like that. Xadie and the famous seem to come together like a magnet and a pin. "Gertie also introduced me to Noel," she said, "and to brates Its 20th anniversary Jan. 13-18.
