Eighteen Logansport, Indiana Pharos-Tribune : :—~ Many Teachers Attending Airborne-TV Workshops A number of Logan-land school teachers are attending workshops tliis summer in the use of air- iorne television in classroom instruction. They will be among 7,000 from six states who will participate in the sessions conducted at various locations and lasting from one to three weeks. Sixty-two Midwest schools, colleges and universities will spon- •SOT workshops in conjunction with the Midwest Program on Airborne .Television Instruction. For the Second year, participants will see special telecasts from MPATTs Guest Speaker at Calvary Baptist ..Guest speaker this Sunday at the Calvary'Baptist Church, 50 Seventh Street, will be Rev. Hubert Morden, Conservative Baptist missionary to Brazil. '. ;.Rev. Morden's -ministry was varied during his first term in that land . including evangelistic ajncS pastoral work as well as teaching in the seminary at Floriano. ;Rev. Morden studied at Moody Bible Institute, Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Northwestern University before becom- ing'a missionary. He will be presenting the challenge and needs of the work in'Brazil at the 10:30 Morning Worship Hour, the 8:30 Training Union, and the 7:30 Evening Service. Prisoner Flees . IA . Ind. (UPD- Authorities today searched for a prisoner who fled from the Hancock County Jail while on an outside work detail. Sheriff Edwin W. Kirkpatrick said Clifford • Piper, 40, Terre Haute, apparently jumped into a car driven. by a woman Wednesday night. He said Piper was on a weed-pulling detail and was left unguarded for a few minutes. The car in which he made his getaway was described as a blue late-model sedan, Piper was held since April 25 on a' fraudulent cheek charge. The purpose of the:62 workshops is to show teachers how ..to,-get maximum benefits' from. classroom television, to demonstrate the educational value of the medium and to examine the role of the classroom, teacher. MPATI aircraft will beam professional Assistance .materials to the workshops June 25-29, featuring demonstrations by teachers using television. The video-taped materials show 'the classroom teacher preparing students for the telecast, the telecast lesson and the teacher's follow-up .activities. Workshops also include demonstrations, discussions, seminars and. lectures by -special guests. Participants evaluate sample television lessons and hear -observations .of ..classroom teachers who used instructional television ex-" tensively. In May, MPATI completed its first full, school year of instructional telecasts to schools in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio .and Wisconsin. Daily lessons were beamed from a four- engine DC-6 ' flying over Montpe- Her, Ind, More than 2,200 schools enrolling about one million students participated hi the project during its experimental year. Until now, entire financial support. came from foundations • and private industry. Member schools and colleges presently are . assuming partial support. Celotex closed at $20.25 Wednesday. It was his struggle to, obtain control of Celotex that got Edward M. Gilbert in the predicament that led to his resignation ;as president of E.L. jBruce' Co.' iand his flight to Brazil.
