"Bob Carol Ted Alice," a juicy comedy cn breaking the vows of the noble institution of matrimony, is bound to be a film of divided opinion I'd say 999 for, tme gainst. Elliott Gould gets so excited when depressed by his wife's rejection of his conjugal desires that he says: "If I had a dog I'd walk him." He is very funny, repeating to the other three that he had an affair, but nobody pays the slightest attention to him.

Director Mazursky puts them in a king-size bed together and the curtain falls as they smile into the camera. I figure Larry Paul are putting us on with this finale.

Bob Carol attend a confrontation at a famous California establishment for soul searching, perhaps the Esalen Institute, where they learn to know each other better and to practice what the group leader preaches Love. Love everybody. Young; adults will get a kick out of this sequence, which was my least favorite because of the audience hysteria. MISS WOOD AND Culp are amusing, trying to be impersonal and intelligent about their confessed affairs. Culp's best scene is in the embarrassing man-to-man talk with his wife's lover.

Dyan Cannon reveals an unexpected beaut. Getaway cars just had to be driven with speed and ac-cuiacy by stunt men to save the actors' lives. It's all just too much to believe, but even so, boys of all ages just might get a wallop from the incredible gimmicks and death-defying games. Wanda Hale "The Italian Job," a. There is a lot of talk going around about the movie that has been shown extensively here, twice the opening night of the New York Film Festival at Alice Tully Hall Theater, Lincoln Center and at countless private screenings given by Columbia Pictures. As executive producer Mike Frankovich fully intended, word-of-mouth publicity has gotten those who haven't seen it in a tizzy of anticipation. "Bob Carol Ttd Alice" is on view at Cinema 1.

TAKING PART in the satirical romp are Natalie Wood and Robert Culp as Bob Carol, Elliott Gould and Dyan Cannon as Ted Alice. Each contributei a generous share to the humor, however, Elliott Gould is funniest as the bashful, reluctant party to the proposed four-way marry-go-round. "Bob Carol Ted Alice" is a joint enterprise of Larry Paul. Larry Tucker produced, pops up rather late as the crooked owner of a gambling casino. The cast is stuck with banal dialogue so awful it's not funny.

Obviously influenced by Sergio Leone, the "Fistful of Dollars" man, the film is a boring imitation of the Leone style. Gimmicks, Games In Turin I "The Italian Job" i3 a gimmick and games film without a message, the kind of film director Peter Collinson declared he would never stoop to make when he started out with such pictures as" "The Penthouse" and the antiwar drama, "A Long Day's Dying." Michael Caine is the star of the English picture at Forum, 86th St. Playhouse and Showcase Theaters, twin-billed with "Ace High." A petty thief, just out of gaol, Charlie (Michael Caine) takes on the big job of his career, the heist of $4,000,000 in gold from someplace in Turin. THE THEFT was planned by a man named Beckerman, (Ros-sano Brazzi) killed in the first seouence by the Mafia but notj before he had sent blueprints to London for Charlie to study and execute. To accomplish the robbery, Turin's traffic has to be tied Tip at a designated hour.

And it's a beaut, hundreds of cars come to a halt, horns honking, drivers yelling, the police trying to unsnarl the jam, the Mafia after Charlie and hi3 motley group of cohorts. The Mafia chief, played by Raf Vallone, tells his gunmen to watch these English, they're not as stupid as thev look. MISSION COMPLETED, the BRNnT-S MIDT0WH -99th ST. BRANDT'S ASCOT Emanuel LWoK presents AN ALLIED ARTISTS FILM EASTMAN COLOR By ANN GUARINO EH Wallach plays a lice-ridden bandit with an odd sense of humor in "Ace High," Italian Western shot in Spain, Italy and Mexico. Double-billed with "The Italian Job" at the Forum and other Showcase Theaters, the tale drags out to a leaden two hours.

The action includes the usual brawls, robberies, murders and chases plus a fiesta and a "viva la revolution" shootout in a Mexican border town of the late lilth Centurv. THE MUSICAL score contrasts the violence against pleasant-sounding themes. Terence Hill, who changed his name from Mario Girotti for professional reasons, portrays a blue-eyed stranger in pursuit of Wallach to recover the gold Wallach stole from him. Bud Spencer, who was former swimming champ Carlo Pedersoli, tags along as a slow-witted strongman. The two indirectly help Wallach with his vendetta against former pals.
