21, 1929, in Latter-day Saints Pingree Ward, 1533 W. Highway 39 ii Pingree, Idaho, with Bishop Mark Eden, Idaho, the son of Larry and Lucille Mitchell Martin. He was schooled in Eden and graduated Pocatello William 0. Byington William Ordell Byington, a resident of Elko, for the past year, died Sunday, March 29, 1998, of natural causes at the age of 82. He was bom March 8, 1916, in Rockland, Idaho, and was reared and attended school in Rockland.

He married Ardella Tubbs on Jan. 19, 1938, in Ogden, Utah. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for time and all eternity. They lived in Idaho most of their lives, spending some time in Nevada and California. They owned and operated the Snack Out Drive-in in Twin Falls, Idaho, for many years.

He enjoyed gardening, farming, fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a devoted father and grandfather who was loved by all and will be missed by many. Survivors include sons, William Odell Byington (wife Rosalind) of Pocatello, Idaho, Dennis Joe Byington (wife Carolyn) of Boise, Idaho, and Danny Kay Byington (wife Shirleen) of Elko, brother, Shirley Byington of Ogden, Utah; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardella Tubbs Byington; son Ladell; his parents; and 16 brothers and sisters. will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

Rulien, 86, a Boise resident and formerly of Wendell, died Monday, March 30, 1998, of cancer at the Valley View Retirement Center in Boise.

Vivienne was born on June 12, 1911, In Soulx City, Iowa, the daughter of Walter Everett and Gertrude Shaffer Harman. As a child, she traveled throughout the United States with her parents, who were both ordained ministers. Later, the family settled on a ranch in Jerome. In 1935, Vivienne moved to Wendell to teach. There she met and married Dr.

Ward A. Rulien on May 9, 1936. They moved to Glenns Ferry in 1945 and raised their family. Vivienne raised Arabian horses and helped to found the Intermountain Arabian Horse Association. She was a devoted horsewoman and worked to improve the bloodlines and recognition of Arabians throughout the United States.

Ward and Vivienne retired to Riggins in 1972 and enjoyed many happy years in their Rapid River home. They enjoyed fishing and watching the wild game in the area. They moved back to Glenns Ferry in 1988. In 1992, they moved to Wendell and Ward resided in the Magic Valley Manor Nursing Home until his death in December of 1994. Vivienne remained active in her church and volunteer work for several years.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Lowe of Pocatello; a son, Ward Rulien of Glenns Ferry; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Vivienne was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Dr. Ward A. Rulien; daughter, Gwendolyn; two brothers and her parents. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.

Friday, April 3, 1998, at the Wendell United Presbyterian Church. A family graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at the Wendell Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Demaray's Wendell Chapel. The family suggests donations to the United Presbyterian Church in Wendell or The American Cancer Society.

Clete Oakley Black Clete Oakley Black, 85, of Jerome, died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at his home. He was born Aug. 23, 1912, in Kent, Iowa, to. Charles and Edith Black. He married Dorothy Hayden in Mount Ayr, Iowa, on Dec.

14, 1935, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 1989. They moved to Ketchum in 1936. He helped build Sun Valley and the Ketchum Grade School. They moved to Jerome in 1971.

He is survived by one daughter, Neva (Clarence) Cox of Jerome; two sons, Robert (Helen) Black of Hailey and John (Madeline) Black of Jerome; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Orville Black of Ketchum; and one sister, Alma Anderson of Boise. Clete was preceded in death by one son, one granddaughter, one sister and his parents. A graveside service for Clete Black will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Ketchum Cemetery with Pastor Gene Kissinger officiating. At Clete's request, no viewing will be held.

Services are under the direction of White Mortuary in Twin Falls. Shoshone from Eden High School in 1947. He attended Idaho State College and the University of Idaho. He later joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950.

As a first lieutenant, he served as a jet pilot in the Korean War. He was discharged from SAC in Great Falls, and married Joyce Archibald on Dec. 17, 1955. They moved to Eden and began farming. They moved to Jerome, raised five children and continued to farm north and east of Jerome.

He has been an active member in Potato Growers of Idaho and many farm-related organizations. He recently celebrated his 11th birthday in Alcoholics Anonymous, where he was always willing to help other members in the program. Kenneth is survived by his father, Larry Martin; wife, Joyce; and brother, Lonnie (Judy) Martin, all of Jerome. His children include three daughters, Roxanne (Brian) Martin of Bellevue, Karrin (David) Rodriguez of Wendell and Kristi (Greg) Heidemann of Kimberly; and two sons, Karl Martin and Kelly Martin, both of Jerome; one nephew, Jeff Martin of Jerome; and niece, Desirie (Richard) Jacobson of Moscow, Idaho; and three grandchildren of Kimberly. Preceding him in death was his mother, Lucille Martin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday," April 2, 1998, at St. Jerome's Catholic Church with Father Jesus Camacho officiating. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. today at St.

Buckley, 73-year-old Oakley resident, died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at his home in Oakley. He was bom May 1, 1924, in Providence, Utah, the son of Samuel and Rose Neff Buckley. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps for nine years during World War II and the Korean War. He married Patricia Mullen on July 10, 1960, in Elko, Nev.

After his discharge in 1945, he moved to the Oakley area, where he worked for Anderson Farms and Thurlow Smith as a diesel mechanic. He worked for Ore-Ida Foods from 1979 until 1987. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Oakley; two daughters, Janet (Lynn) Simmons of Oakley and Carrie (Greg) Fairchild of Declo; two sons, Steven (Tammy) Buckley of Boise and Michael (Tricia) Buckley of Heyburn; two sisters, Phyllis Howard of Roy, Utah, and Wahnita Jeppsen of Magna, Utah; a brother, Robert Buckley of Oakley; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Friends and family can call from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 3, 1998, at the family home, 140 S. Wilson in Oakley. The family suggests that memoriais be given to a favorite charity. Arrangements are under the direction of Payne Mortuary, 221 W.

Main St. in Burley. The photo for Royce Buckley inadvertently appeared with a different obituary in Tuesday's Times-News. The Times-News regrets the error. Manuel Burgess Manuel Burgess, 71, of Jerome, died, Saturday, March 28, 1998, at St Benedicts Family Medical Center in Jerome.

He was born Sept. 3, 1926, the son of Ernest and Alma Borne Burgess in Mobeetie, Texas. They later moved to Filer, where he attended school. Manuel moved to Twin Falls in 1952 and began his 36-year career for Garrett Freightlines, retiring in 1989. Manuel was in the Navy from 1944 until 1946; he worked in the Boy Scouts from 1959 until 1960.

He married Iva Lou McCoy in 1944; they later divorced. In 1966, he married Joan Lewis, and they later divorced. Manuel married Betty Elliott on Sept. 4, 1994, in Carson City, Nev. He is survived by his wife, Betty of Jerome; two sons, Darrell (Gayle) Burgess and Dave (Linda) Burgess, both of Twin Falls; two daughters, Jackie (Rick) Hartley of Boise and Julie (Andy) Thomas of Pocatello; two brothers, Keith Burgess of Twin Falls and Erless Burgess of Homer, one sister, Yvonne Huddlestone of Great Falls, nine grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; six stepchildren; and numerous step great-grandchildren.

A gaveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 1998, at the Jerome Cemetery with the Rev. Elroy Weixel officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m.

She was born to Albert and Jessie Ackerman on Jan. 25, 1908, in New Plymouth, Idaho. She married Gilbert Sweet on June 19, 1926, in New Plymouth. Mrs. Sweet was a longtime resident of Shoshone, moving here from Cambridge, Idaho, in 1942.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; a son, Russell; six siblings; one granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; and one great-great-granddaughter. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Virginia) Cravens, Mrs. Everett (Shirley) Payton and Mrs. Wayne (Margie) Hewitt; and one son, Larry Sweet.
