From this marriage, two children were born, a daughter, Joyce, and a son, John Jr. They left for California with his brother and wife, where he worked for General Electric Corp. for years until his retirement.

Then they sold their home in Upland, and bought a 31-foot motor home and traveled all over the United States for two years. He now can spend eternity with his hunting buddies who consist of his brothers and father. Bob was born July 28, 1937, in Twin Falls; he was the youngest of 10 born to Norman Pearl and Tina Jennet (Stuck) Stewart. Growing up the youngest had its advantages and disadvantages; trying to keep up with the older boys while being coddled by his sisters, his adventures brought many great stories to our dinner table. Bob always tried to pretend he was the innocent one when it came to some of the mischief he found himself in, but as he relived his version, you could see the twinkle in his eyes and his subtle grin that gave him away. Bob enjoyed the outdoor life of hunting, fishing, camping and riding horses; he also enjoyed working on cars as long as they weren't "Fords." He lived in Boise and Las Vegas before settling down, in Twin Falls to raise his family.

He worked for several years and later retired from Blue Lakes Trout Farm. Bob married his soul mate, Gloria G. Leazer on July 25, 1987; the two were inseparable and they celebrated a happy life and many loving years together. He told her frequently never to forget she was the love of his life. She all but volunteered for the job after a family member with mental illness lived with her a few months in 2007. Rainey called around trying to find a support group and met NAMI Idaho Executive Director Lee Woodland. "I was told, 'Hey, we didn't have anybody (to lead a group)," Rainey said.

So after consulting her husband, Rainey volunteered. Once a month at the KMVT Community Room, she now offers stressed families a place where people will understand their concerns "Somebody to vent with, somebody to talk with," as she put it. The new group couldn't come soon enough for several mental health profession'als in the area. The family focus is an important aspect, said Pat Gaskin, a clinical education specialist at St. Luke's Canyon View Psychiatric and Addiction Services.

But Rainey's group also expands mental health resources in general in the Elko Continued from page C1 engaging people. "We have to get out and get busy," he said of Republicans. "I have to give a lot of credit to Democrats. They really mustered their people and we have to do the same thing." Former City Councilman Glen Guttry, on the other hand, said he enjoyed the caucus process and isn't certain he would prefer a return to a primary format: "I was confused at first, but it worked out well and I thought it was great." High turnout among the Democrats brought newfound enthusiasm for party officials in the county. "I think that Elko County may have just gone said Elko County Democratic Party Chairman Lance Whitney.

"We don't have enough services in our community for our needs," she said. Coleen Mullinix, a social worker with the Community Support Center at 1409 Kimberly Road, sees plenty of family members dedicated to helping their loved ones at the center, which offers outpatient daytime treatment for those with chronic mental illness. And she knows they could use a boost themselves. "It's difficult because you see a person really suffer that you care about, and then you have to be able to help them," Mullinix said. Other NAMI representatives may be the most excited about the new group.

Carol Stephens, who leads the consumer group, will finally have somewhere to refer family members who just aren't comfortable with visiting her group.
