Montana Standard- Post Butte Anaconda Montane Sunder. December 5, 1945 Florence Kostas dies here at 65 Florence Kostas, 65, of 256 E. Mercury died in a local hospital Saturday morning following an illness. She was the wife of Michael E. Kostas.

Coroner Andy Aleksich said death was due to natural causes. Mrs. Kostas was born in Butte on June 7, 1900, and received her education in Butte schools. She was employed as a waitress in several Butte restaurants and also worked for a time for Montana Power Co. Wages tn the United Statea are highest in the Pacific Coast states, says Encyclopedia International.

1891 and was educated in the Wisconsin city. He started work for the Milwaukee Railroad at Piedmont in 1909 and moved to Deer Lodge in 1911. worked as an engineer out of Deer Lodge until his retirement. He was the engineer on the last Milwaukee passenger train out of Deer Lodge. He retired in May 1961.

Mr. Harnack was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Avelina, include daughters, Mrs. Jeanne Spotorno at Helena and Mrs. Charles VanIsko of Deer Lodge; sons, Edward of Great Falls, William of Newport, and James of Ventura, brother W.

Las Vegas, and 17 grandchildren. Funeral services will be at St. James Episcopal Church Tuesday at 2 with Rev. John Caton of Anaconda officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Friends may call at Beck Funeral Home after noon Monday. Ben H. Roberts Funeral services were conducted Saturday in SayalovicWhite's Funeral Home for Ben H. Roberts with the Rev. Leon Furrh of the First Baptist Church officiating.

Jordan played sacred selections. Pallbearers were William Fenter, Joseph, Delmas and Robert Brown, William Porter, Arvid Mallson, Ray Tuszynski, William Wheller and Christ Drogustis. Military rites in Mountain View Cemetery were conducted with Oliver Atkins in charge and Sylvester Graham serving as chaplain. William Gilbert was officer of the day. Fran Smith was soloist and William Daly was bugler.

Color bearers were Elmer Saari and Hugh Graham. William Graham and Blaine Beakey were the color guard. The firing squad included Henry, Rear, Ralph Rand, Wendell Johnson, William King and Ralph Tait and the escort was Richard Dunstan, John Gleeson, Tuszynski, Matison and Drogustis. Moriarity, 139 E. Ag- James Lowney of Butte dies James J. Lowney of 1926 Whitman died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born in Butte and was employed 30 years as a serviceman for the Montana Power Co. until illness forced his relirement.

Mr. Lowney was a member of Butte Elks Lodge and the Plumbers and Steam Fiters Union. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Kate, include a daughter, Mrs. Victor Olivier of Mountain View. sisters, Mrs.

Gib Cooney and Margaret Lowney of Butte, nieces, nephews and cousins. Requiem Mass will be at 9:30 Monday in St. John the Evangelist Church. The body will be enlombed in the Supper Mausoleum in Mountain View Cemetery. Rosary will be recited Sunday at 7:30 In.

was born March 24, 1875, in Austria. She moved to Butte in 1900 and married Mike Stefanatz that year. The couple moved to Twin Bridges in 1911 and ranched there until 1925 when they purchased a ranch in the Dillon area. Her husband died in 1946. Mrs.

Stefanatz moved to Butte in 1948 to make her home with a daughter. She was a member of the Holy Saviur Church in Butte. Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Joe (Emma) Malesich of Butte: sons, Mike of Dillon, George of San Diego and Rudy of Kalispell; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Rosary will be recited Sunday at 8:30 in Brundage Chapel.

ROSES GRANDPARENTS TWIN BRIDGES Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rose, Twin B. 'dges, became grandparents for the first time Tuesday night. Their daughter, Mrs.

Art Anderson, Essex, gave birth to a daughter, in the Whitefish Hospital. Paternal grandmother is Mrs. Anna Anderson, Antelope, MOTHER ENTERTAINS DRUMMOND Mrs. James Gilson enlertained at a party at her home after school for her son, Johnny's tenth birthday. After playing games, refreshments were served and the party was climaxed when the group was treated to a show at the theater.

Front late Saturday night in an apparent attempt to force the sale, but failed to get anything. Asst. Police Chief John O'Leary said a window on the south side of the building was broken to gain entrance and the thieves found keys inside the building that allowed them to leave by a back door. O'Leary said the thieves tore away some casing surrounding the safe and punched several holes in a plasterboard wall but did not damage the safe. He called the breakin "an amateurish job." A merchant policeman discovered the breakin.

O'Leary was assisted in the Investigation. which is continuing, by Capt. Larry Connors, Mickey Sullivan. Charles Matule. George Skuletich and Jim Lunney.
