EUROPEANS PARIS (UPI)' - Secretary of State Dean Rusk set out today w try to settle the nuclear argument within the NATO alliance and get Western Europe'to share more of America's foreign aid burden to underdeveloped countries. . Rusk arranged to confer immediately after his arrival here with Foreign Minister Maurice. Couve de Murviile before a conference this evening with President Charles de Gaulle. Before leaving Washington shortly after midnight Rusk said the current ferment in the Atlantic alliance stemmed not from, basic disagreements but lively examination reflected "a in all direc- new steps NATO tions" of the must take. "There are no cracks in the basement of this solid and great edifice of the Atlantic community," he said. "What we are talking about is how to add another story on this great structure." Rusk listed three items as subu- jects for immediate attention: —Enlargement of the European Common Market by the addition of Britain. —(Development of nuclear strategy with NATO. —Relations of NATO powers to the world's underdeveloped tions. "Computer repair service—?" Death Sentence Upheld by Court INDIANAPOLIS (UPI) - The Indiana Supreme Court Monday upheld the death sentence of Edgar Hatfield, Elkhart, in a 4-1 ruling. Hatfield, 29, was . convicted by an Elkhart County jury and 1 sentenced to die in the electric chair for the ; slaying of his 17-year-old wife, Jane. •Hatfield's attorneys based their appeal on a contention that one of the jurors was guilty of .misconduct in that he took tranquilizing drugs throughout the trial and on an allegation that a photograph of the dead woman was prejudicial.
