THE STAR: Part 1 Friday, Feb. 19, 1954 Motteson News Board Discusses Tavern License Rate Increase tv MRS OSCAR DETTMERIN6 4.1BJ The village board of trustees at Monday night's special meeting discussed with tavern owners and representatives of club operators the inevitable Increase of liquor licenses within the village for the ensuing year. Upon scrutiny of a survey chart listing licenses of neighboring communities as well as unincorporated sections, owners of local taverns readily concluded their present tax of $200 is a meager compared to licenses of similar establishments in the area. A tentative fee of $400 was presented by the board; however, no action was taken. A canvass of licenses for other businesses is being contemplated.
