WA in a large Family, a Livery Scrvant to act as BUTLER he must also be able to drcs Hair, sliave, and write a good Hand he must have his Family, or Parilh he belongs to, is one Farthing the bet-ter for that Expence, however great it is. I my seif have paid near Twen ty Pounds tp the Support, of the Poor, in the different Parishes where I have resided, which Part of my Property is as absolutely funk with respect to myself, Family, or Place I belong to, as if buried in the Center of the Ocean. I fhould therefore think it most reafonable, as well as equitable, for a Person to have Relief from that Parish (in ASHBORNE SECOND ASSEMBLY will be J-ACMOOR'iJJEAD, on Wednesday the z8th of this Instant November, 1781. In Lord BAGOT's Park, OAK TIMBER to be Sold, of exceeding sine Quality, very proper for Coopers and Joincrs Use Likewlse in Needwood Forest, to be sold OAK TIMBER, very fit for Scantiings, Oak Boards, and a lar (Zuantity of very good Posts and Rails, See. by applyine ta ANTHON R1LEY, at Ntwborough near the faid Forest of Needwood, Stafiordshire. 01 orners. 1 ms lsauo agrccaoic cummun iihujji ofPolicy, that where a Person pay to the Support of Government he has a Right to the Protektion of that Government, while he remains a peaceable Subject of it.

But fome will fay, this would over Capital Towns, (efpecially the manbfacturing ones) with Poor, which ac-cording to the prefent Laws, is acknowledged. To remedy this, I would propofe, that the Claus respecting Apprenti-ces and Hired Servants, gaining Settlements by Servitude, be repealed and only who pay to the Relief of the Poor be entitled to the same in return, if Neceslity require. For, by the prefent Laws, a Parifhioner may give Settlements to ten, twelve, or twenty others (besides his own Family) who may become troublefome and thofe, who by Servitude are reaping a private Advantage, and gaining a Settlement at the same Time, have the Advantage of those, who, whilst they pay to the Support of the Poor, have no Advantage or Interestin it i but by that Clause being repealed, every onc's Settlement would be indisputable Certisi-cates would be then unneceflary, and innumerable Lawsuits prevehted every one would belong to the Parish they were born in, till they became House-Keepers in another, and contributed to the Charges of the Parish they lived in which, by that Means, would become a kind of Sick Club to them, in case of Neceslity. How sar the above may be agreeable to the Principles of common Senfe, Justice, and Humanity, I beg Leave to fub-mit to the Determination of the Legislature, and remain, Sir, Your humble Servant, A Friend to the Poor. A Letter from New-York, dated Oct. 1, says, That between the ist and ioth of Sept. a se-vere Action was fought between General Green and the British Army under Col. Stewart, who routed Green and put his whole Army to iiight. The Rebeis had 250 killed on the Spot, and 400 made Prisoners, among whom is Colonel Washington, of the Horse, who is wounded, and lost their Cannon, See.

The Loss of the Royal Army is 40 killed and wounded, among whom are ten Ofiicers. Among the Ofiicers killed are Lieut, Lloyd, of the 6zd Lieut. Col. Kirkman, of the lyth Light Company Capt, M'Clean, of the New-York Vplunteers Adjutant Cunningham. Captain Kerr, and fome others are mortally wounded.

We have reeeived the following melancholy Advice from Liverpool, that, on Saturday Morning the ioth Inst, between Eleven and Twelve the Cuftom-Housc at Dublin was discovered to be on Fire. It was pereeived 1irst in the Room where the Commislioners fit, who with Numbers of Merchants, Masters of VelTels, who were doing Business in the other Parts of the House, had just Time to escape before the Stairs and Floor feil in, and soon after the whole of the Infide was totaHy destroyed, together with all the Accounts and Papers. But the Mischief, great as 1t was, did not end here. Under the different Offices belonging to the House (which form a long Range of Buildings) were Store Rooms in which most of the Merchants Goods belonging to the City were depos-ited, and the Custom House Quay (as is gene-rally the Cafe) was covered with different Paca-ges, Rum Puncheons, Almost all thefe were wholly consumed by the or carried off the Mob, who seemed so bent on availing themselves to the utmost of the Calamity-, that numberless Articles too heavy to be born away, were tumbled into the River. The Loss is im-mensely great, but no Estimate as yet can be formed of it.

Among the Goods on the Quay were a Hundred Hogfheads of Tobacco. No one has a Suppofition of the Fire being accidental. Accounts from Virginia say, that the French and American Troops were expected to break Ground on the ist of October before YorkTown. Lord Cornwallis's Force there was 6000 Troops including Refugees, beftdes a Thousand armed Negroes. He has Postestion of the River, and Gloucester strongly fortified, and garrisoned by about 1000 Men.

These are hemmed in by Gen. Wuden with 1500 Men, theCount deLou-zan with his Legions, and 2000 Marines from the Fleet, to prevent any Escape that Way. One Ship of 44 Guns, two Frigates, and a 20 Gun Packer, at Barwell's Landing in James's River one of 50, one of 40, two Frigates, and a Store-Ship, in the Mouth of the River; fiye Ships of the Line off Cape Henry 32 Ships of the.Line and several Frigates are drawn up across the Mouth of York River; and three Ships of con- tL.VKlJx addrefl to Mr. Michael Bramley, y. anoted at Pentridge near Alfreton.

THAT a Regulation is wanting in the Laws relating to the Support of the Poor, has been Matter of long, and just Complaint; and the Intricacies in which has occasioned in-numerable Contentions and Law-fuits betwixt Parilh and Parilh. That every Englisliman has a Right to reside where he can best fupport him seif and Family, I apprehend is indif-putable upon the common Principles of British Liberty but that this Liberty is too oftefr infringed upon, through the arbitrary Disposition of Parish Ofiicers, in refusing to grant Cer tifica tes to their labouring Poor, is too obvious for any to deny, by which Means a Parilh becomes only a more extensive Prison for if a poor Labourer, or Mechanic, has ever so good a Profpect elfewhere, he cannot remove with. out the Ofiicers (or in other Word, his Jailor's) Leave. and suDPOsinz he gets a Certificate to the Place he can best To Dicey and Co. -10, Bot Churck-Yard, London, FIRST CASE. GENTLEMEN, HAVING repeatedly heard of the great Efficacy of your OAFFY's ELIXIR in numberless Diibrders, and being fome Years afflicted with the Stone and Gravel, I refolved to make Trial of it, and therefore on the Morning of the zist of July last, being seized with very severe and acute Pains, I sent to Mr. Eaton, Bookseiler in this Towrt, for a Bottle of your Genuine Daffy's Elixir When I took three Spoonfuls accerding to the Direction, I soon found my Pains abate, and fiept for the Space of four Hours. In the Evening I took the same Quantity, and the Morning following I repeated the same Dose a third Time, and about Two o'Clock in the Afternoon I votded a Stone almost as big as a fmall Horfe-Bean. SECOND CASE.

ON the Morning of the of August I was seized nearly as before, although not so acute, I immediately sent to Mr. Eaton for another Bottle of that famous Medicine, and repeated the Dofes as before, and pafled another Stone since which I have enjoyed (thank God) more Eafe than I have found for fome Years past.
