The Empire Store Kearney, Sept 6, 1897. To the Public: We deem it fitting at the opening of this new season to express to our customers our gratetul acknowledgement tor courtesies and patronage conferred upon us during our twenty years business in this city. It has ever been our policy to handle first class goods only aud at reasonable prices. We are gratified to say that we are abundantly satisfied with the results of this policy, so much so that we have increased our stock of Dry Grods and Shoes in quantity (being the largest in the state west of Omaha) and where it was possible improved them in quality. We had the foresight and capital to buy nearly all our fall goods months before the change in tariff, when prices of all classes of merchandise were lower than ever before known, and are in proper hape to meet orsurpiss the sharpest competition and give to our trade better goo Is and more goods for the money than late buyers can afford to.

Manufacturers are daily advancing prices It is a natural and advance an.i not one of speculation or Sintiment With wheat at 75 to 80c and the price of corn gradually growing bight we feel as thougfi a season of better tinus is at hand. When you are ready to buy your fall goods come in and inspect our stock and prices. We are confident you will be convinced that it will be to your iuteiest to buy them from us Respectfully, C. B.
