New of a baibuous and cruel Murder committed there on Wednefday the 13th Infhnt, on the Body of Mr. Jacob Vanefte, By his own Nejr.roe, in Conjunction with another of his Neigh Ijvtrs It feems all the Provocation as Mr. Vanefte taking a 1 ittle of the Fellow's Tobacco and that Evening having been on a Vifit to Dr. Van Wagenen's, his Neighbour, the two Negroe9 Way laid him, and knock' him off his Horfc they then with an Ax fpiit his Skull; and dragg'd him a little out of the Road The Korfs coming home foon after without his Mafter, gave fome.A larm, aad the next Day proper Search being made, he was found. His Negroe was thereupon taken up, and brought before the Coroner's Inqueft and being mide to touch his Matter's Body, the Blood fuddeniy gufh'd out of the dead Man's Nofe and Ears, as it likewife did from the Negroe's, who thereupon, being ftung with Guilt, confeffed the Crime, and was, together with his Accomplice, directly fent to Jail, In order to receive their juft Demerits.
