Montana May Bid for Skibob Races Montana has been offered the opportunity to host the 1971 World Skibob Championships, according to Samuel Chapman, director of the State Department ot Planning and Economic Development. The United States and France are the two final bidders for the championship competition, and the final decision will be determined on or before January 15, 1968. Notices have been sent to several qualifying ski runs in Montana inviting them to bid. Those who are interested are asked to furnish $1,000 sanction fee prior to Dec.

20, refundable if their area is not chosen. The meet will involve about 45 nations, 450 participants and an estimated 5,000 spectators. In addition to the five-day meet, the area selected will also host the U.S. Junior and Senior National Skibob events, approxi mately two weeks prior to the World Championship event. Ski areas, to qualify, must have a chairlift, and the course must be laid out on a standard downhill-type run at least one mile in length.

The course must be visible from the finish line and the spectator areas. Chapman said, "It would be a big boost to the state in 1971 both economically and from a publicity standpoint."
