MONDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 1948 1 Robber Uses Shotgun I Betty Ba relay Cottons Posse And Planes Join Hunt For Killer Of School Girl BEAUMONT, Feb. 9 Enraged citizens fanned out over a 150-mile area in Southern California today searching for the midnight robber who murdered a 17-year-old high school girl with a shotgun blast. Marjorie Winn, queeen candidate at Redlands high school, was killed early yesterday as she sat with her boy friend in their parked automobile. Her companion, James Sloan SI.

Three other residents also reported a prowler. Deputies believed all the reports involved the murderer.

Sheriff's Capt. C. F. McBracken said a car stolen in Riverside was found abandoned in front of the Kilts home with a shotgun miss in p. Daylong search through the countryside failed to reveal a sign of the murderer.
