Hattan and wife, March IS. 1910. quitclaim deed to acre 71 and west ooe-hUl of 72, EATHES records compiled In pro- paring the Weather annual report show 1919 to be an abnormal year in every respect. For the first time In Its history, San Antonio records an annual rainfall exceeding CO Inches. In 1SSS the precipitation amounted to 40.65 Inches, at that time considered remarkable, bat the cioee of the year brings tbe annual total up to 90.25 Inches.

'While we bars had almost 10 inches more rainfall than ercr before, the cnancas ere that 1B20 will not produce the average cmount, which is 28.83 Inches," said Mai. Allen Buell, at the weather office. "Years following abnormal conditions seldom reach tne average in any respect. The tendency of nature is to balance Itself, ul- ways. The prospects are that the coming ew Year will be more or less drouthy." AIX KEl'T tow l'MXEB TJIEKMO.METEK Excessive rainfall keeps ttie thermotoettr low in summer and high in winter, according to Maj.

Buetl's observations. TUls opinion is substantiated in the fact that the highest reading in 1919 of the mercury Is 97, and that was taken on July 18. In San Antonio there are on an average 24 days during the summer when the thermometer soars above'100 degrees, and during 1818 there Is not a single Instance of its rencli- ing that temperature. Freezing days amount to 15 during an average year, but there have been only 11 so far. and the prospects, are that the few remaining days of 1919 will be neither cold rainy, and Buell believes that the annual record which will to Washington early in January wfll not likely be altered' to any extent, from that summarized today.

Two explanations arc offered by Maj. Jiuell in accounting for'the large rainfall of Ifllfl. One is tbat the prevailing wind ias been from the southeast, bringing almost unlimited amounts of moisture the Gulf of Mexico. The other is thnt from some unusual circumstance the storms during the past year have originated chlef- in the section of the United States. COLDER WEATHER BUB IN 1920 Rain has altered every phase of San An- weather record.

It naturally causes cloudy and foggy days. There have been only 103 clear days (luring this. Usually there are at least '133 bright days. Two instances of destructiye lightning have' been jotted down to this year's record, a new element In this section of the State, where previously destructive lightning has been an absent Quantity. The greatest wind velocity of the year wss that of 52 an hoar, caused by the Gulf storm of September 15.

Judging as mcch us possible from past records, 19l9's characteristics Point to colder weather for 1920, more sunshine, little rain and a warmer summer. Ideal weather will close 1018, Maj. Baell believes. All over the country fair skies and moderate temperatures prevail today. Texas and the Gulf States were somewhat colder this morning than yesterday, but no cold wave appeara on' the weather map.

I know of one (tin who went Into action with the Fifth Don Cavalry Brigade a month ago.
