TUESDAY. SEPTEMBER 15, 1964 Glenwood News Briefs PACE SEVEN and Mrs Arthur Thwaits of California were visiting in Glenwood this week. s. Thwaits was the former Elsie Hoe, whose parents ran the delivery station and motel here over forty years ago. Vernon and J.

T. Hollimon have been pouring a cement slab near the Farm Bureau building at Cliff, in preparation for the county fair which opens there October 3 and 4. won their first football game against Las Lunas team by an -18-0 score. Thursday, Sept. 17, Reserve will play East Fork at 1 p.m.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Covey were visiting-with Mrs. Covey's brother, Cullen Richards and wife on their way home to Alamogordo from Flagstaff, where they had been visiting their children and grandchildren. The annual Lytle family reunion was held at the Catwalk Saturday and Sunday with the following families represented: Mrs.

Lamonne Young, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Tipton and daughter Bonnie Jo, of Springerville, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lytle, Mr.

and Mrs. Bob Wiltbank, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lytle and Mr. and Mrs.

Dan Lytle and Mr. and Mrs. Blain Shumway. Frankie Stewart of El Paso stopped to visit with Mrs. Fred Hollimon and Stanley Menges en route to Colorado on business.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dickerson, and children, Kim and Rhonda, of Albuquerque, spent several days with- Mrs. Dickerson's father, Sam Burns and family. Those attending the funeral of Young Wells on Friday in Sil- ver City were Fred Galley, Fred James, Buddy Allred, Elsworth Tipton, Mr.

and Mrs. Jim Henry, Leonard Hud-' son and Chryil of Glenwood, and Mrs. C. C. Harkey and daughter, Sharon, Ervin Goats and Gene Johnson of Muie Creek area.

A. M. East was called to Gardenia, recently where he remained for a week before the death of his brother, Carl. Mr. and Mrs.

Miller George of Cirrito, were in Glenwood Mogollon area this past week. Mrs. George was the former Margaret Maloney of Mogollon who has been gone from here for over thirty years. Mr. and Mrs.

Jess Hines went to Silver City Monday for several days where Hines will be hospitalized. John Allred left Monday for Las Cruces where he will enroll at the University. Mrs. Wayne Reynolds and Mrs. Loma Brown drove to Silver City Wednesday, with Mrs.

Lee Bostick and Mrs. Roy Hop- iins, who took a bus to El Paso where they remained overnight. Mrs. Bostick drove A.M. East's truck back from El Paso.

Mrs. Fred Galley took her son, Neil to a doctor in Silver City Tuesday. Wednesday Silver City shoppers were Mrs. Fred Hollimon, Mrs. Stanley Menges, Mr.

and Mrs. Curtis Upton, Mr. and Mrs. George Thacker and son and Mrs. Charley Thacker.

Ed Shellhorn had several relatives here this week, from Texas, visiting Len Shellhorn. The county road grader leveled the property around the community building this week. Elsworth Tipton drove to Reserve Tuesday for the monthly meeting of the county commissioners. Mr. and Mrs.

Clyde Allred of Tucson are visiting this weekend with Clyde's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pleas Allred. Duncan was in Glenwood Friday for hay and supplies. He has established a guide- packing service at Willow Creek, with horses and mules hire.

Dr. and Mrs. Robert Modie of Lancaster, are spending several weeks with Mrs. Modie's parents, the Elsworth Tiptons. Stanley Menges carn.e in from i Smoothing Iron a Vtw Fred Hollimon range Friday to take his son, Jeff, to camp for the weekend.

Phyllis McKeen, Jouquetla and Gywnet Hollimon spent the weekend at the Kenneth Hpllimon ranch cabin. Mrs. Pleas Allred and Margaret returned from a five-day trip to Albuquerque and Magdalena where they visited with their daughter, Darlene Pino and husband. While they were there, they joined by Bill returning from his summer job at a smoke jumper at Missoula, Mont. He will continue, his 'college work at Western this term.

Achievement night will be Tuesday, September 29 at the Presbyterian basement. A pot luck supper will be held at New and old members and their parents are invited to attend. Awards for the year will be given at this time. I a Kiehnc returned home from a two week stay in Santa Fe with Mr. and Mrs, Herbert Wooldridge, the former Stella Kiehne.

While there they attended the fiesta. Mrs. Wooldridge accompanied her mother home. Mr. and Mrs.

Buzz Burris stopped briefly in Glenwood Saturday en route to Tucson, 1o visit Burris' father. Mr. and Mrs. Harry White and children, Judy and Reed, of Duncan, stopped Sunday with Marie Reed, en route home from a fishing trip to Big Lake, Ariz. The Whites owned a store and farm here a dozen years ago.

The Chinese measure distance by a day's a Muslim Negroes Are Arrested For Inciting Philadelphia Riots PHILADELPHIA (AP)--Philadelphia police arrested two Negro men and sought a woman on charges of inciting the rioting and looting that burst on north Philadelphia's Negro area just over two weeks ago.

Arrested Monday were Abbyssinia Hayes, 34, who is known as Shaykh Muhammad, a Raymond Hall, 25, also known as Yussuf Abdullah. Police described them as members of an extreme Negro separatist movement. They were charged with conspiracy to riot, inciting 'to riot, and rioting: Also sought, on similar charges, was a woman identified as Florence Mobley. A three are Philadelp'hians. Police Commissioner FFA GROUP HONORED CLOVIS (AP) The Clovis Future Farmers of America chapter has received the national Gold Emblem Award for its participation in vocational and agricultural programs.

The award is the highest given to FFA chapters. Richard Edwards said there were no indications, at present, that the alleged riot instigators were representing any larger organization, or they had anything to do with recent- noting in such other nortljerji cities as New York, Rochester, N.Y., and Paterson, N.J. Hayes founder of the National Muslim Improvement Association of America, and Hall another of leaders, were arrested outside their headquarters.
