CLARK'S 308 Broad St. HAEEISBHRGf TELEGRAPH, FrKrD.Y, MT 5, CQALPROMPTLY Just 'phone us an order and you'll be sur A prised how promptly we get the coal there our regular customers are pleased iwith the way A we handle their orders and with the excellence of A the coal we'll please you too. UNITED IGE AND COAL CO. Third and Cumberland Tenth Below Market 903 Cowden Fourteenth and Howard That's a question that has been asked by many people in Harrisburg concerning me.

Do you know what they mean? Well, I'll tell you. It's a rare thing that you see or hear of a merchant tailor using as much space in newspapers as I isn't that so? The average merchant tailor is willing to wait until a man is ready for his suit, overcoat i or trousers and takes for granted that the man will come to his shop to be measured. In this, I disagree with them No business stands stillit either increases or decreases, and the only way to increase it is, by keeping yourself before the public and to give them work that will recommend you wherever the garment goes, be it suit, trousers, overcoat or fancy vest. These same people have also wondered now 1 pay my bills for this space, when I charge so little for my clothes. Again, I will tell youwhere an ordinary tailor shop turns out five turn out ten.

1 have no charge accounts, but sell for cash; and as my customers pay me, I pay what I owe. Large sales small profits and satisfied customers is a much better business card than big prices and misfits. When I make a man a garment, 1 turn it out so I can hold his trade, and 1 hold it in every instance. My work is always the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow. Why buy readymade clothes, when from me you can get some thing built for you at the same price.

Worth thinking about, isn't it? Another thing 'for you to remember that will be to your advantage, is that for one year I clean, press and keep in repair the clothes bought from me absolutely free of charge. 46QarmentBllilder9, 7 SOUTH TH I RD STREET Cor. Gautier repudiates the proposition that physical strength and energy cannot be sustained on vegetable foods, pointing to the indisputable fact that the Russian peasantry, the fellahin of Egypt, the porters of Constantinople, the Turkish soldiery, the woodcutters of Bavaria and many other large classes of mankind live wholly or nearly so on vegetable fare and are strong and vigorous. He admits generally also that the vegetarian is less disposed to gout, rheumatism, neurasthenia and to mental excitement. The general result at which M. Gautier arrives is that Europeans generally eat too much meat and that a more vegetable diet would be far nearer the true Ideal. London Telegraph.

Montaigne On Marriage. What philosophers have said about marriage would make a fairly large book, but these sayings might not always be catalogued as "philosophy." It is recorded of Herbert Spencer that he rejoiced at having never married, because so many of his friends who had done so came at length only to tolerate their wives, and Montaigne compared marriage to a cage, the bird3 outside longing to get in and the birds within longing to get out. "Of mine own wisdom, wrote the great Frenchman, "would Wisdom herself baye had me I should have refused to wed her." He simply "let himself be guided by custom." Yet he admitted on another occasion that "the company of faire and tbe society of honest la a sweet commerce." GRATc Special to the Telegrapn. Gratz, Mav 6. Ira W.
