twice mayor of Davton, and owner of the Giddings hotel, died Thursday afternoon at his tome. 531 West Second street. Death was due to a complication of diseases. Ha had been about four months. Major McMillen was widely known, and during his lifelong connection with, hotels made hosts of friends.

For a short tlma ts was In charge of the old Neil House at Columbus, and later was manager the Broeck-erbcfX hotel at Bellefonte, Pa. He was active In political and civic affairs of the city, and In his early manhood served twice as mayor of Dayton, In 1S92 ana In 1S94. He acquired ownership of the Giddings hotel twelve years ago. Except for the time he was eoa nected with out-of-town hotels, Major McMillen spent his entire lite Is Dayton. He ai bora on the site of the old workhouse, Sixth and Main streets, and lived there for many years.

He served as a drummer boy during the Civil war. In fraternal circles, Major McMillen was also actively Interested. He was one of the founders of the Hotel John H. Stewart, Decatur, comes to Dayton, Hay 1, as business manager of the Christian Publishing association, succeeding Netum KathUun, who is severing his connection with the association. Mr.

Stewart is well known in Davton. In 1905 he was connected with the. Christian Publishing association as a linotype operator. He installed the first two machines in the new publishing houso Fifth and Ludlow. Later he became connected with the Mercantile corporation.

In 1909 he went to Decatur as a linotype operator, was later promoted to have charge of the job printing business and for the past three years has been city editor of the "Decatur Journal." The Dayton association prints the "Herald and Gospel Liberty," edited by Dr. Alva Martin Kerr, a publication bavins? a wide circulation throughout Christian church, a vast amount of Sunday school literature and supplies, countless pamphlets and leaflets used in the promotion of the denominational activities and operates a store, supplying the Teligiouj books and church supplies. He was also a member of the Greeters of America, the Ohio State Hotel Men's association, the Knights of Pythias, the Royal Arcanum, the Knights Templar and the United Commercial Travelers. Surviving are his widow, Ella Gebhart McMillen, and one daughter. Mrs. Rosy McMillen More. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Burial will be made in Woodland cemetery.
